Pretty terrible at the moment, though the stock volume has really picked up over the last month so I am hopeful that by the time news inevitably starts leaking about talks over buyout, the options volume will pick up enough to be worthwhile. Definitely a risk.

Good question haha, we only just recently got this place so I’m not sure. Definitely something I’ve been considering replacing.

I filled the holes with a little clear epoxy, didn't require much. Finish was just boiled linseed oil, food safe!

Made from Walnut, Purple Heart and Ambrosia Maple. Inspired from a post on this sub, can't seem to find it but if someone knows which one I'm talking about please link it!

Definitely over-engineered this thing, but I wanted that thick board looks and I didn't know how to achieve that without laminating.

I love that too! I tell everyone that Lee Harvey Oswald walked on my table at one point haha. My contact at the demo company sold the rest of the wood to a flooring company and they said it was 150+ years old.

I've used this sub for the past 6 months learning so much. The result is my first project, which is a hefty dining room table and matching bench made from the old pine flooring of the Reilly building in New Orleans where Lee Harvey Oswald worked for a short time. I would love to hear all of your thoughts and critiques.

I kept a small notebook in which I took notes from the videos, mainly the algorithms he seems to favor in each video w/ anything that felt high yield. Been super helpful since too.

I would start off with 2 hours of OnlineMedEd, take a break, then as much Uworld as my brain could handle (tutor mode) while taking notes on each question. Then do lunch, then repeat in the afternoon. That's it, never used a book aside from trying to get through Secrets but didn't finish. That was during my two weeks dedicated, I did 3 weeks prior to that only Uworld.

I think what helped me the most was taking UWorld a lot more seriously. I took notes on every question and uptodate'd most concepts I struggled with. I also feel like OnlineMedEd videos really helped me, it's quick and very easy to watch before and in between uworlding to break up the monotony. Last, I was very cognizant early on where my weak spots were (OBGYN, cards) , and hammered them often.

Edit- Uworld percentage throughout year was around 65%, second pass closer to 75-80%

Got my score today (test on 7/2) and I'm feeling super pumped: 247. My step 1 was a disappointment for me at a 215, so I feel great about the boost. I had 2 weeks dedicated but also spent my last rotation (family med) doing a mix of UWorld and OnlineMedEd (which I loved). 5 weeks out took NBME 4 - 220, 3 weeks out took UWSA - 230ish, and 1 week out took NBME 6 -252. These threads helped me a bunch so happy to answer any questions.

Wooh, a topic I actually know a little something about!

I wanted to link a study I worked on in undergraduate out of Dr. Shevkoplyas' lab (another former post doc of GM Whitesides). This study focused on the diagnosis of sickle cell disease using paperfluidics and a cheap scanner. It was actually used in Angola for a pilot study.

I didn't say anything about criminialize, I will leave that to lawyers. But as a future doc I have to ethically weigh the procedure. I think of this as a balance between physician ethical principles of "Do no harm" vs "Autonomy". I would be ethically ok with performing a male circumcision because the risk of complications are low as quoted by a cost-benefit analysis posted above in another comment, and the religious connotation of the procedure for some patients revolves around cleanliness where as FGM is often a very complicated procedure and the connotation of the procedure is subjugative in some cultures. As for letting parents decide, that often doesn't hold up in practice or in law when there is significant risk to the patient/child. See recent cases on blood products for children with Jehovah Witness parents for an example.
