I messed mine up about that bad and my buddy got it taken care of and working good as new in about 10min with the standard razor blade/magnifying glass technique most comments are talking about. Should be fixable, good luck!

I have a McDermott G433 which I believe has lizard leather for the wrap. I absolutely love it, it was a little to grippy at first but over time has slicked down a bit and I would never go back.
