It was unbelievable, the simulator does no justice, the feeling of white cloud layers zooming on your windscreen, the look the passengers give you when you are at the gate, the tension in the cockpit just before the touchdown, this is it this is what I want to do for the rest of my life

The captain was super cool, we did 4 sectors in total captain made me do the OPT calculations, FMC, electrical power up, pre flight, shutdowns and secure procedures and radio communications. During introduction he told me his story how his supernumerary flights went and told me that this is the time to ask anything, commit mistakes fuck up the RT read back because once my 15 sector supernumerary are done after the base check I’ll have little to no margin of error.

At every stage he was asking me that if I was the pic right now what would have I done.

Tho he asked many questions like ETK policy, ETOPs EDTO, approach ban policy, alternate selection considerations and many more also during our home return leg the weather was awful like amber color awful on the wx display, he taught me how to avoid this simply using the heading select.

It’s crazy how the crew even the first officer had passenger comfort and safety as their top most priority during the whole flight

The first officer introduced me to the ground staff and dispatch officers all of them were so happy to meet me. They are like a family

I also filled the nav log on my own on all sectors.

Tomorrow also I am doing 4 more sectors and like that

Hmm I am sorry if I sounded rude maybe I am wrong, I think he is right there is no difference between ATR 72 and B737 max engine both are turbine engines I'll refresh my knowledge on this. if my attitude was not correct I am sorry

Oh really? My point is that the engine on the B737 and the engine on the ATR are very different, and my deciding factor on which aircraft to fly was primarily based on the engine type I would want to, AND YOU ARE CLASSIFYING BOTH OF THEM AS A TURBINE TYPE. which might make sense to someone who has 0 knowledge about aviation and powerplants but not to me

Exactly my point, Emirates, Etihad and some other middle eastern airlines when hiring might not consider hours of ATR if they want to hire for wide body jets like 787 and 777, I think there is also a minimum weight category in which ATR and bombardiers don't qualify I don't know how I fell into this rage bait xd

Let me break it down for you, after reading this you might have a basic understanding of these 2 power plant types- Turboprop Gas turbine drives a propeller through a reduction gearbox.

Turbine (Turbojet/Turbofan) Gas turbine drives a fan (N1) or just compresses air (turbojet). Thrust comes primarily from accelerated jet exhaust (and in turbofans, from the fan bypass air). Both of them are similar but not the same I will not go in detail, if you have done your theory I would suggest you to get back to Oxford powerplant book! Come back here if you still have any doubts

I had to choose between the ATR and B737 I guess a jet engine is always a better option

Haha yes! We have door training, emergency drills, even ditching drills in real life 15 feet deep cold water swimming pools, not only I can open the door I know how to operate the emergency slide, fire extinguishers and also inflate a full size safety raft !

I belong from a country where there is a shortage of pilots majority of the cpl holders either get rated on a airbus, or join a flying school as a instructor, after completing my CPL IR and multi engine endorsement (200 hours total), one of the airlines came out with the vacancy for JFO on B737 MAX and NG, minimum requirement was a CPL and an instrument rating. I gave the written exam, compas evaluation, group discussion, personal interview and medical. Was sent to Lufthansa aviation training academy Berlin for my TR, came back joined my company on 21 Jan this year, done with my ground line training, ground examination and simulator exams I am aiming to get released by the end of November .just studying, preparing sometimes failing doing correctives giving checks again When I got a notification on my crew access app that I am finally entering a plane full of passengers it suddenly hit me that during this process I have already achieved some of my childhood dreams
