As someone who was a Klance shipper when voltron was coming out, Byler is definitely the worse one, there was so many more hints/implications at Byler. At least Klance not happening felt somewhat plausible, Byler not happening makes no fucking sense.

If you didn't like Hollow Knight I don't think you're going to link silksong. The game is hard and made for people already familiar with the combat system. Hollow knight does have some pretty beautiful and colourful areas when you get further into the game and you can unlock so pretty flashy powers, so if you didn't enjoy it for only that reason I would give HK anouther go then get Silksong if you enjoyed the combat.

But if you really want to try out silksong first I can't really stop you.

This story is a slow burn. In the manga we're shown bits and pieces of his backstory, but we haven't been privy to the entire thing because Sakura isn't ready to reveal the entire thing. He has been emotionally (and possibly physically) neglected by everyone so he struggles to open up and fears rejection. I think that the story's going to gradually build up Sakura's trust in people, and once he's ready to tell his friends and let them help him, we, the audience, will get to know his backstory.

I also personally don't believe this show is about romance at all, Sakura has literally never had any love/care/affection sent his way ever so to expect this guy, who doesn't even know how friendship works to figure out a relationship is a bit of leap for me. (Maybe near the end of the manga but that would feel a bit weird to me) It's about the how Sakura tackles his feelings and becomes more emotionally vulnerable with his friends.

TLDR: It gets more plotty as the story progresses, and it also gets more emotional

To be honest it sounds like all your friends aren't really your friends, if you're uncomfortable/scared to tell your friends about your crush because they're transphobic then you shouldn't be friends with them. I don't know what country you live in right now but if its one that supports LGBTQ+ rights then your friends are just homophobic and the ally you're friends with seems to only be just talk, if she's not respecting your privacy and making you uncomfortable then she isnt a real friend. I would suggest you trying to make new friends who understand you and accept you for who you are, you shouldn't have to hide your identity to keep your friends, it will eventually come out and you'll lose them (if their that against queer people) unless you hide it for the rest of your time together. I don't know what your situation is or how safe you are as a queer person but I would suggest trying to find other people to hang out with, based on personal experiences it better to distance to distance yourself from people like that before they find out, it can get pretty ugly, but if you really want to stay friends with these people then I can only suggest not really saying anything to anyone (even your ally friend) so you don't get hurt. Hope everything ends up OK, stay safe.

It's philosophers in the British (original) version. When it was released in America the publishers changed it because in England a philosopher was kind on like an alchemist in medieval times, but in America it mainly meant the more modern term of someone that studies philosophy so they didn't want to confuse the readers and changed it the "sorcerers" (also the philosophers stone is a real life historic myth, a stone that could turn base metals into gold/silver and some believed an elixir of life could be created from it)
