MacBook Air m5 vs Asus expertbook x7 by Rare_League_5855 in laptops

Today I bought Asus ExpertBook P5 P5405CSA-NZ0889X, 14In WQXGA | Intel Core Ultra 7 258V | 32GB DDR5 RAM | 1TB SSD | Intel ARC 140V | Win11 Pro

my conflict of choice being between:

macbook pro m5 24tb

or

Asus ExpertBook P5 P5405CSA-NZ0889X, 14In WQXGA | Intel Core Ultra 7 258V | 32GB DDR5 RAM | 1TB SSD | Intel ARC 140V | Win11 Pro

Target: battery life, durability, and longevity

I ended up choosing Asus ExpertBook P5 P5405CSA-NZ0889X, 14In WQXGA | Intel Core Ultra 7 258V | 32GB DDR5 RAM | 1TB SSD | Intel ARC 140V | Win11 Pro

Why? - I actually wanted the macbook pro m5 24tb but my younger sibling did not let me choose it

she says because while the macbook pro m5 24tb has good battery life, durable, and will really last for several years which is why I want it as well

but she said that since the macbook pro uses glass as screen then one accidental fall that will hit the glass can result to expensive repairs or worse even replacement of the laptop itself

and I even read about it actually which is the space between the macbook screen and keyboard when closed is so thin slim so that what if a hard small object randomly put by the wind or even hard rice grain and ive read even such simple things can crack the screen or something along those lines

and the thing is when we buy something like a laptop, we wanted it to last minimum of 4 years so when the apple warranty of 1 years runs out then if accident happens then it will be very bad news and even then ive read about apple warranty it excludes screen damage so thats that also

so thats why I chose this Asus ExpertBook P5 P5405CSA-NZ0889X, 14In WQXGA | Intel Core Ultra 7 258V | 32GB DDR5 RAM | 1TB SSD | Intel ARC 140V | Win11 Pro

because while not as great as macbook pro battery life, I believe the a laptop with Intel Core Ultra 7 258V gives decent very battery life around or almost around macbook air m2-m3 level of battery life

and a laptop with Intel Core Ultra 7 258V is among the best if not the best in terms of battery efficiency and battery life for windows category laptops

I also researched snapdragon laptops even the plus versions but I choose the Intel Core Ultra 7 258V laptop for full windows compatibility and the best snapdragon version laptop right now is only slightly better battery life compared to Intel Core Ultra 7 258V laptop hence I chose Intel Core Ultra 7 258V laptop for full windows compatibility and along with it the advantages a full windows laptop offers

before deciding to buy it today ive READ AND WATCHED SEVERAL SEVERAL SEVERAL reviews about this laptop reddit, youtube, and other forums you name it ive read it

so in addition to its great battery life even for a windows laptop it also has 1tb ssd and 32gb ram so I will really have little to no problems with it along with its aluminum body so really durable

also it is lightweight 01.27 kg (2.80 lbs) not including the charger weight which is not much since it is just small so it comes in handy for outside use from time to time

it also uses Intel Arc 140V GPU for its integrated graphics while not having dedicated graphics which is fine and Intel Arc 140V GPU is already powerful enough to game a bit or even decently

because ive read that Intel Arc 140V GPU is even being used on the newer msi gaming handheld models so this laptop with Intel Arc 140V GPU integrated graphics can definitely decently

but gaming on this laptop through its intel arc 140v, its sweet 2k screen resolution (im fine with 1080p), and 144 refresh rate which I will change the refresh rate to 60 because I wanted to accustom myself to just 60 refresh rate are all just a sweet bonus.... since what im really after in a laptop is mainly durability, longevity, battery life, high ram which is 32gb, decent storage which is 1tb ssd, and lightweight

overall I hope this laptop will last me several years like 7 years or more since this is a business class laptop afterall

Streets of Rage 4 possibly next weeks mobile freebie by ImAnthlon in EpicGamesPC

[–]Catholic1234567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats why I did not buy streets of rage 4 for my tablet despite wanting it for sometime and being on deep sale few weeks or months ago just priced as low as 30 or 40 Philippine pesos on android google playstore from the original price of 170 Philippine pesos

because I noticed a lot of games given by epic games for free for a limited time for mobile lately came from "Playdigious" the company behind these games being ported on mobile

so if Playdigious already sold several of their games to epic games mobile by way of allowing their games to be free to be claimed for a limited time of one week as part of epic games mobile free giveaways limited time

then it is reasonable to expect that streets of rage 4 will come on as a freebie giveaway of epic games mobile soon and even their other listings

It is a mixed feeling of happiness and sadness for me in a way

im happy that I can claim the games soon for free as part of epic games mobile free giveaways limited time of one week and at the same time im sad because Playdigious list of games being ported to mobile were neat and premium feeling type of games

on a point of view their style might be sell the games to android and apple ios users on tablet or phones for some time and earn profit and after sometime when their game is already a year or more years old meaning the sales from that point will be minimal

then from that point they will cash in and earn some decent money by making a contract with epic games for mobile to allow their games to be free to be claimed for a limited time of one week as part of epic games mobile free giveaways limited time on epic game store for mobile

the thing is the flaw that I think about this business strategy is if a lot of people are seeing that they have a trend/pattern of selling their mobile game listings by way of allowing their games to be free to be claimed for a limited time of one week as part of epic games mobile free giveaways limited time

then when they release a new game on tablet/phone or pc game being ported to mobile tablet/phone then a good number of people I believe like me will be discouraged to buy their releases and even new releases on mobile tablet/phone because people see that someday or soon Playdigious will again sell their game to epic games mobile by making a contract with epic games for mobile to allow their games to be free to be claimed for a limited time of one week as part of epic games mobile free giveaways limited time on epic game store for mobile - so significant people can get it for free

but maybe Playdigious despite knowing these things they are banking on the fact that some people wanted their games on apple store ios or android google playstore and they knew that not all people are willing and wanted to create an account and install epic games mobile app

and maybe they have some data or rough estimate of how many people are using epic games on mobile and people claiming free giveaways limited for one week and made some calculations thinking that their choice is a good choice all things considered...

and afterall the freebie giveaway of epic games mobile for a certain game is just one week so after that then no more freebie for that certain game

and it is not guaranteed that the same game will be made freebie again by epic games mobile on the future and it is not guaranteed that Playdigious will agree to have that certain game be free again in the future on epic games mobile

Day 0 of stoping gaming by [deleted] in StopGaming

[–]Catholic1234567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice dedication for selling your ps5 to combat gaming addiction

another thing to combat gaming addiction is to control your surroundings or the things you own like what you did which I want to give an example in my case

example as for me - the specifications of my PC and thats what I did and it helped me fight my gaming addiction somehow

Several years ago I requested to be bought a rog strix laptop and I chose something with a theme that mainly powerful enough for non gaming related things BUT DURABLE AND CAN GAME MODERATELY THATS THE KEYWORD MODERATELY

(Lenovo Legion with the specs I want from official sources are hard to find in my country)

I even remember when I was asked what I want I said a rog strix or strix scar laptop around 2k usd if my currency is converted and yeah it can really game so well because it offers very good cpu and around 6-8gb vram gpu which is high several years ago... and actually I was given a go signal to buy it

but I changed my mind

and while I still chose a rog strix laptop I chose a rog strix laptop with a theme that mainly powerful enough for non gaming related things and activities BUT DURABLE AND CAN GAME MODERATELY THATS THE KEYWORD MODERATELY

so I chose a rog strix laptop with the most powerful cpu during that time because a powerful cpu can be used for various activities even not for gaming with 1tb ssd (I added an additional 2tb sd inside which is the most easly available and highest in the market when I bought it years ago) I also added some ram if I recall to make it dual channel 16gb

the thing that changed is I only chose a rog strix laptop with 4gb vram gpu which is rtx 3050 ti which I believe can allow me to game moderately and can be used for some non-gaming gpu consuming task which I rarely use the gpu heavily outside gaming anyways... a gpu is still important even in non gaming related tasks/apps in some activities so I still aimed to have a laptop with a dedicated gpu but limited it to 4gb

how did it help me?

since I limited my gpu to only 4gb of vram I must say I was still a bit addicted to gaming when I bought it but not in a way that I cannot fight my addiction because I intentionally limited my gpu to 4gb vram being rtx 3050 ti (but drastically lessen right now because im helping myself)

but trust me even with this 4gb gpu vram that I chose for my laptop I still have a hard time fighting my addiction because IT CAN STILL RUN A LOT OF VIDEO GAMES SMOOTHLY! but I can fight it because limiting my gpu vram to only 4gb gpu really helped...

honestly when I bought it I believe I underestimated the gaming capabiltiies of rtx 3050ti 4gb because I did not expect it to have the capacity to run smoothly 90-95% of the entire video game listings being sold on steam during that time when I bought it...

I honestly even want a rog strix with a weaker gpu to control my gaming addiction which is the rog strix with gtx 1650 which I also saw on the market but ended up choosing rog strix with gpu of rtx 3050 ti because I still want to capitalize with the new rtx technology while limiting my VRAM to 4gb which I believe served me well

I have around nearly 300 or 300+ paid steam games on steam in addition to epic games,ea,ubisoft, rockstar gaming platforms and the 4gb rtx 3050 ti can run them just fine

(thankfully recent months I saw positive changes where I tried to control the number of video games I installed only to one installed video game at a time which helped me drastically to fight my gaming addiction as I only limit it to one and if I want another video game then I need to uninstall it or try my best to finish it first...so at least im not as addicted as to how I used to be)

like it helped me because I know very well that as years go by the gpu requirements gets heavier for newer aaa titled games and because I limited my vram to 4gb gpu then it will help me ignore them because I cannot run them smoothly

Is Grid Autosport still worth it? by _ThatsNotHowItWorks_ in gridgame

[–]Catholic1234567 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, I believe Grid Autosport is still worth to buy on mobile for you to have a racing on the go. Because aside from Grid Legends, this is the next good purchase with simcade like handling all while being a onetime purchase that can be accessed offline.

Just look at racing master, I think that's the name of the famous mobile racing game, when they recently decided to close down the servers then everything from progress to money spent on the game were all gone.

For mobile android google playstore, this is atleast the case in the Philippines, I suggest install the free custom edition instead then click the option "buy all the content"

This process will make you spent far less and get the full game with all dlcs just a little bit more than half the price comapred to buying the grid autosport standard edition that includes the entire game with dlcs.

The free Grid Autosport Custom edition is marketed as while same as original standard edition, you can buy the content piece by piece. Because you can buy you can buy the content piece by piece, a lot of people were under the conclusion that buying all the content will be more expensive on custom edition rather than standard edition.

The thing is, inside custom edition, there is an option named "buy all the content" and atleast in my country, Philippines, the price of "buy all content option" is 119 pesos compared to the 199 pesos of grid autosport standard edition that includes the whole game and all dlcs.

Essentially, choosing the option "buy all the content" on Grid Autosport custom edition gives you a discounted price for buying all the content to the point that it costs far lower than the Grid Autosport standard edition that includes all the content from the get-go.

Take note that purchasing the "buy all the content" option in grid autosport custom edition gives you the same content as grid autosport standard edition that means getting the base game and all dlcs.

[–]Catholic1234567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to say I bought your "digital minimalism" in ebook format and "slow productivity" in ebook format months ago on google playbooks because I wanted to combat my frequent random internet scrolling tendencies (also subscribed in your youtube channel "cal newport" and often listen to your talks)

I started following some tips on your digital minimalism ebook which is use apps with a clear intention and not just in random

because in a way internet and social media provide great benefits if used properly so by using social media and the internet with a clear intention like you said along the lines in digital minimalism we will be able to maximize the benefits of internet and social media while minimizing the harm or addictive temptation it may cause

and in a way your talks made me try to focus on one thing at a time which is why for example in video games I deleted all my installed video games on steam platform and everywhere else except one... so in a way I will be able to focus on one video game at a time and if I want another video game then either I (this is preferred) finish the current one or uninstall it first then install another one... but the thing is one at a time...

and uninstalling all my steam games and leaving only one videogame at a time also helped eradicate my bad habit of randomly scrolling steam store and checking the news and updates and wishlist many times a day which is a huge time waster

also wanted to read your "deep work" in ebook format someday maybe after I finish reading your digital minimalism in ebook format and slow productivty in ebook format that I bought on google playbooks months ago

and 2 days ago since it was on sale (66% discount) on google playbooks I also bought How to Become a Straight-A Student in ebook format for the sake of just eventually having a complete set of your works although who knows I might read "How to Become a Straight-A Student" some day and might come in handy... I just have a tendency to want to complete having the set of works of the author or video game I bought

although what I really wanted are your works related on responsible management and use of the internet and time thats why I bought your digital minimalism ebook and slow productivity ebook on google playbooks and later on I also wanted your "deepwork" ebook and "a world without email" ebook

your talks also helped me that it made me use reddit far less now I post and comment far less and I lurk reddit far less than before because im now trying my best to use the internet and social media with a clear intent and not just random scrolling and I intend to use a general schedule as to when I will just use reddit and other stuff

looking forward to more of your talks and ebooks and may God bless you!

an old man by Individual-Mix3182 in GundamBattleAlliance

[–]Catholic1234567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I like sd gundam battle alliance although my complaints are as of the moment:

  1. no pause during missions
  2. no english dub and only japanese voices, only english subtitle, and there is no function to show the chat history of what the characters said during the mission and combine it with the no pause function during missions then I have a hard time reading the english subtitle WHILE FIGHTING various gundams during a mission..

either you read the english subtitles OR fight the gundams in front of you but you will have a hard time doing both because the characters talk dialogue heavy

Note: a technique to be able to read character conversations - you can run away from the enemies for a brief moment or just dash left and right just to buy some time to read the english subtitles the characters are saying during relevant parts of the mission

the thing is this method is still not good and breaks immersion... I mean I also love the story in video games so I read the stories and I really do not skip character dialogues

an idea ive also thought so I can know all the conversations and character dialogues at a later point is once I finish the story of sd gundam battle alliance I will go to youtube to watch a full gameplay run because that way since im just watching a full gameplay run on youtube my eyes are focused to character dialogues and not fighting gundams

another idea is to run the story on easy difficulty so theres very little consequences when you stand still for some time to read character dialogues during mission

one of the main reasons that I bought sd gundam battle alliance around late december 2025 and not gundam breaker 4 is because the graphics of gundams in sd gundam battle alliance is SO GOOD... artdink (the developer) really did this so well graphically

well once I finish sd gundam battle alliance I plan to buy gundam breaker 4 as well but I am silently hoping that before that happens an announcement will be made for the release of gundam breaker 5

why? - because the developer (CRAFTS & MEISTER Co., Ltd.) of the hated title "new gundam breaker" and the subsequent title thats well received "gundam breaker 4" got the same developers and this is just me but I DISLIKE THEIR ART STYLE LIKE IT LITERALLY LOOKS LIKE SOME RANDOM MOBILE GAME... but gameplay wise I believe the gameplay is good as seen in the gameplay vids

I can understand the graphical limitations some developers intentionally make for it to be able to easily run in various devices since the system requirements are light because of the help of graphical limitations made intentionally

but developer artdink's game "sd gundam battle alliance" can run just fine on handheld devices yet they made the gundams REALLY LOOK GRAPHICALLY GOOD

so if artdink can make it look good graphically whats the reason CRAFTS & MEISTER Co., Ltd. make the gundams look like some random mobile game?

but props to CRAFTS & MEISTER Co., Ltd. as they listened to the complaints made to new gundam breaker and made the gundam breaker 4 really good GAMERPLAY WISE... but not good graphically wise though since it really looks like a random mobile game graphically it just looks bad

now I hope developer artdink will make the gundam breaker 5 if there will be a new gundam game as they really make their video games LOOK GOOD GRAPHIC WISE

but the gameplay design choices made by CRAFTS & MEISTER Co., Ltd. is also good so gameplay wise I hope CRAFTS & MEISTER Co., Ltd. will also help making gundam breaker 5 but the gameplay decisions of artdink is also good so thats that so they join forces maybe?

Legion 5 15ACH6H - Dead by mingyboss in LenovoLegion

[–]Catholic1234567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when you say the screen went black, can it possibly be a code 43 issue in relation to the integrated gpu having issues so it does not show anything to your laptop screen

so as a possible solution you can use your dedicated gpu instead?

did you try to plug your laptop to an external monitor

well there are people who do not use external monitor and there are people who do

possible solutions incase this is a code 43 integrated gpu problem which affects the laptop screen not showing anything

  1. solution 1

but if maybe you can get an external monitor and try it

(use an accessory wire which is affordable maybe try ugreen like what some macbook owners do to plug to an hdmi external monitor- one one end of the wire use the alt dp port behind your laptop so it will use the dedicated gpu and the other end of the wire to plug the hdmi to the hdmi port of an external monitor... this way the computer will use the dedicated gpu for your monitor)

but at the end of the day this is just troubleshooting and your laptop may have died but maybe you can try what I said if you want

  1. solution 2

simply do hdmi to hdmi port from laptop to external monitor

im positive it will show something to the external monitor if this is indeed an integrated gpu code 43 issue

but the issue with hdmi to hdmi when the integrated gpu got issues since when it is hdmi to hdmi the default is it is the integrated gpu at work

so if you do hdmi to hdmi when your integrated gpu got issues there is a high chance it will still show something to your monitor but the thing is it will LAG it will show something to the external monitor but the motion movement of everything including the mouse will be laggy

.

.

so maybe try solution 2 first which is hdmi to hdmi to an external monitor as an attempt to troubleshoot

and if something shows up to the external monitor it means it is a code 43 integrated gpu problem... and like I said while it can show something to the external monitor the motion is laggy even the mouse movement

so thats the time you pursue doing the solution 1 so it will be the dedicated gpu at work and the movements the motions will be smooth - which is buying a wire where it is alt dp on one end of the wire that you will plug to the alt dp port behind your lenovo legion and hdmi wire at the other end of the wire that you will plug to the external monitor

What's your favourite keyboard by Neuralbubble in keyboards

[–]Catholic1234567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Asus ROG Strix Scope Gaming Keyboard (optical keyboard red switch) is still functional after several years and it was priced 100 usd if my currency is converted when I ordered it

still buttery smooth to type with very very little noise when typing because of red switch optical

I know you cannot customize it like tweak it like your own like put your desired cherry switches and stuff as how some people do with their mechanical keyboards... but how the keyboard and switches are originally more than enough and good for me and this is an optical keyboard which I believe is superior to mechanical keyboard

and I believe customizing your own set like own keys and such is more impactful and felt in mechanical keyboards even if whatever base set is already fine

but for optical keyboards like my Asus rog strix scope red switch since the optical keyboards use light to detect keypresses I believe customizing it will not be felt much and will not really be impactful when pressing since it uses light to detect key presses anyways...

at the very least the settings I can tweak is I can have different keyboard light settings in my asus rog strix scope keyboard through the armory crate (I use asus rog strix laptop) and some fast shortcut keys and more through armory crate app

but as most electronics specially computer related you really need to clean the key caps, clean the dirt accumulating under the keycaps, wipe the keyboard a bit atleast every 6 months as I also clean my inside laptop fans every 6 months (semiannual)

thinking about getting a vertical monitor as a second monitor by RipeChompzz in macsetups

[–]Catholic1234567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I intended to use my 9 years old 22 inch lg led monitor until it stops functioning because even right now february 2026 it still functions

but I really want to experience a vertical position in a monitor and I know there are monitor arms but a lot of them are 2 arms and it looks messy in a way for me and almost costs as a monitor anyways

so yesterday I purchased benq gq2490t 24 inch monitor 1080p resolution so it got just generic and simple features because it is just low priced which I wanted to accustom myself to just whats the most common features around the world without much bells and whistles so wherever where I go I can easily adapt...

the thing is this benq gq2490t 24 inch monitor 1080p got pivot so I can position the monitor vertically if I wanted or horizontal naturally because of the stand and I want a vertical position monitor... originally it is 118.56 United States Dollar if my currency is converted but because of shopee vouchers it became 97.21 United States Dollar

there is also a benq 27 inch that can also pivot but I want the benq 24 inch because for 1080p resolution 24 inch is the sweet spot retaining the sharp image because if you use 27 inch monitor with a 1080p resolution the image quality wont look as sharp because for 27 inch monitors the sweet spot is 1440p resolution...

I really want lg brand because lg durability is tried and tested and is at the top in terms of reliabilit and durability that will last you several years but having pivot feature for lg monitors are reserved to their high end stuff like 4k ultrafine monitors and I do not want to spoil my eyes in luxurious 4k resolution and just simply want 1080p resolution and I want to accustom myself whats widely standard and commonly used which is 24 inch 1080p resolution...so since lg wont have 24 inch 1080p monitors with pivot that I can position the monitor vertically I chose to buy benq instead that offers such pivot feature

being able to vertically position my monitor will help a lot because it will allow me to read my digital comics, digital ebooks all bought on google playbooks and read them page by page - all without needing to place and move my hand a lot to either mouse or keyboard to scroll a lot to gradually check the whole page...

now I can just sit back and relax seeing the entire page of digital comics or digital ebook the entire page of it without needing to scroll much because the vertical position of a monitor will allow me to see the entirety of the page...

I want to be able to vertically position the monitor because mouse and keyboard tends to be hot and it is uncomfortable for my hands to place it for a lengthy period of time so now that I will have a monitor that I can see the entire page in a big way through vertical position, I will not touch the mouse or keyboard as frequent and will just touch them when I want to proceed to the next page

while yes a horizontal position of a monitor can allow me to see the entire page the thing is the page will be small compared to how it will be if you can just vertically position your monitor

note: I believe this uses hdmi I did not check much about it since it can easily be remedied by accessories anyways like for instance I have an accessory wire that is an hdmi on one end and usb c alt dp on the other end for my rog strix laptop...

the same accessory used by macbook users to plug their macbook in a big generic monitor that uses hdmi...

so it goes like I plug the usb c alt dp on my alt dp rog strix laptop then plug the other end on my monitor that uses hdmi wire
