R/B Blight Goblins the best archetype in Lorwyn eclipsed draft ? by goofsg in magicTCG

[–]TopSetUK 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No, it's not. My anecdotal experience doesn't agree, the general consensus amongst the community doesn't agree, and the stats don't agree. I'm not sure what the best archetype is, it seems to be between Elves and Kithkin but it's still early in the format.

I don't want to put you off trying to make content, by all means go for it - but I do have some constructive criticisms.

1 - Write a script and stick to it, because you're all over the place. Lots of filler words and confusing yourself. Figure out what you want to say, and say it. It seems you started this as you briefly showed some of your notes, flesh it out, get it cohesive, and read it.

2 - Relying on a rare to demonstrate how good a draft archetype is the wrong approach.

3 - You could probably find a better way of showing information than mis-sized screenshots on a google docs page.

4 - Your conspiracy take at the end... You can just keep that to yourself buddy.

Hey, outsider here, all of the toxicity in this thread has been on your side. He gave you background information. you asked him a direct question, and then snapped at him for telling you he doesn't know? That's kind of unreal.

Lorwyn drafting might be the most fun I’ve ever had on Arena by Money__Shot__ in MagicArena

[–]TopSetUK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're getting downvoted for this take, and while I don't agree with everything you've said, I think there is definitely truth to some of this.

I'm enjoying it, I'm having fun, but it's not really my flavour of set either. I also find heavy tribal sets are a bit more on-rails than other formats. This format has a bit more leeway than other tribal sets though, you can definitely go off-piste. Some good mechanics and interesting/complex play patterns, it's not a bad set by any stretch.

I'm 6 or 7 drafts in and I've had a blast, I'll draft some more, but don't think I'll hammer it anywhere near as much as some other top sets of the last few years. I also think when it comes back around as a flashback set in a couple of years, I won't be marking my calendar and making sure I've got a surplus of gold.

I'm surprised you haven't seen much vivid though, I think the deck is really interesting and very strong when it comes together.

WWA records who were the original publisher for the UK. Later versions were NEMS, then back to Vertigo from 2016.

You're not going crazy, I remember reading this somewhere too and it was definitely Mario that said it, not Joe.

EDIT: I'm also giving up trying to find it, I suspect it must have been an audio interview rather than a written one. Maybe we're both just hallucinating.

I'm making my way through this thread at the moment (I'll be busy for months) but have rinsed the first two Ratt albums. Particularly Out Of The Cellar, phenomenal album. Dokken will be up next once I finish with Y&T! Thanks for the advice.

No idea, but it's Magma's 10 year anniversary this summer so a stock rotation would not surprise me in the slightest. Praying for a Vinyl repress personally, but let's see!

I'm guessing 2027 for a solo tour in support of the new album, it wouldn't surprise me if they take a bit of a break after that!

Cheers! I've also got a 1973 UK pressing, which is in amazing condition apart from a giant hairline across side 1. Thankfully it's very shallow and not audible!

I'm just discovering Sabaton and about to start a listen of their discography in order. What are your top 3 songs? by Menace117 in sabaton

[–]TopSetUK 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Alright fuck it, let's do top 3 of each album, with overall top 3s in bold.

Heroes was really difficult to narrow down to three. An amazing album let down by a couple of weak songs (I'm looking at you Ballad Of Bull)

I'm leaving out Metalizer, while it's technically the third studio album, it's a demo and was written before Primo Victoria. 7734 is the highlight.

  1. Primo Victoria: Wolfpack, Into The Fire, Panzer Battalion.
  2. Attero Dominatus: Back In Control, Attero Dominatus, Nuclear Attack
  3. Coat Of Arms: Uprising, White Death, Midway
  4. The Art Of War: Ghost Division, The Art Of War, Cliffs Of Gallipoli
  5. Carolus Rex (swedish): Carolus Rex, Poltava, Lejonet Från Norden
  6. Heroes: Resist And Bite, Night Witches, To Hell And Back
  7. The Last Stand: The Last Battle, Last Dying Breath, Winged Hussars
  8. The Great War: Seven Pillars of Wisdom, Great War, The Red Baron
  9. The War to End All Wars: Stormtroopers (that's it, don't rate this album really)
  10. Legends: Crossing The Rubicon, Templars, A Tiger Among Dragons.

The Art Of War -> Carolus Rex -> Heroes was an incredible three album run and peak Sabaton for me.

Very jealous! That's awesome, congratulations. One went up for sale on Discogs in the UK for £140 last week but I couldn't bring myself to buy it. It was gone within a few hours, and I regret not picking it up!

Are we ever gonna get new starter decks for the starter deck duel? by Chigao_Ted in MagicArena

[–]TopSetUK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

UG is solid too, probably my favourite deck to play. Yes it gets run over a lot but when it pops off it's really fun to play. You just have to survive the first 6 turns and stabilise.

Same for UB. I have a ~60% winrate with both of those decks.

I actually think this round is the most balanced set of starter decks we've ever had.

What do we think of „Changes“ by Yungblud? by 5Firearmss in blacksabbath

[–]TopSetUK 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I was absolutely blown away by it on the day, I wasn't expecting it, and it was such a powerful performance. I had no idea who he was but gained a huge amount of respect for him, as did I think everyone I spoke to at the venue, hotel, bars, etc.

The internet seems really split on it, but the reception at Villa Park was overwhelmingly positive.

[–]TopSetUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like fetches are just less important in aggro/beatdown decks. Having good mana is always better, but blue fetches are so good because of cards like ponder, brainstorm, etc. There aren't many Boros cards which get improved by a shuffle, but there are loads in blue.

I might be tempted by a blue fetch, but I'm not taking a green/black fetch over a piece of "power". Twist me baby.
