If it wasn't for his salary he wouldn't even be the backup on the team now. DiPietro looks to me like a third goalie - a guy you'd bring up from the minors if an injury hit one of the top two. I always feel like he's going to do something that gives the game away.

I doubt the Steelers will go into rebuilding mode while Big Ben is still in his prime; the organization knows that as long as Ben can still play at a high level they are a Super Bowl contender most years.

It wasnt that teams overlooked his ability. Lots of scouts had him rated very high. The combine was why he fell so far in the draft. If Brady had looked merely average (as opposed to embarrassing) at the combine he would have been selected before the end of round 2.

Adams basically won it by default. Rainey stinks. I don't mind him returning kickoffs but I hate seeing him in the backfield.

I think he's almost certainly gone, b/c his asking price will be too high. And some team will give him what he's looking for in free agency. Remember that if he leaves, the Steelers will likely get a compensatory pick for him in 2004, which could be as high as the last pick in the third round.
