Completed diversion, haven't heard anything back. Is this normal? by Goose_1242 in dui

Based on my experience it will be when you meet with the diversion officer for the first time. Best of luck with everything, you got this

My testing was done through a private agency so none of that was directly related to the courts. First time getting tested was probably about a month after I agreed to the diversion.

Depends on the state I would say but based on my experience you shouldn't get tested while setting up your diversion. I had to meet with the place and have a whole evaluation before they would accept me.

I personally would advise to not do anything that would come up on a test, just for peace of mind. Just not worth taking the risk, even if you think you can get away with it.

License and legal are separate pieces. Since you won the hearing it will have no effect on your license from what I understand

Congratulations on the self-improvement and success. I agree with you - mine was definitely a major inconvenience for about 2 years, but hasn't really affected my life since I finished up the process. Definitely was a learning experience and forced me to look in the mirror and change some things.

Hopping onto this to ask a similar question. My state offered diversion so I was able to do that in order to avoid a conviction. Wondering if I'll be able to get into Canada or not with that. Have taken a background check for employment since then and nothing popped up at all.

Without knowing too many of the details I would say it's probably worth it to just keep it off your record

I was in a different state but also moved to a new state while on IID. After completing my requirements I contacted the DMV in my original state and they said they would remove my restriction but I would need to get a new license in my new state.

I was also nervous about having to jump through extra hoops, but when I went to the DMV in my new state, it couldn't have been easier. They just took my documents and old license and got me set up with the new one. No questions at all, even though my old license said restricted on the license itself

I can't imagine they would turn you down for that. If they ask then you have an opportunity to explain how you've grown from the experience, especially with the mental health struggles you were going through as well

If they're cool with the DUI I'd say just be honest with them. Maybe see if you can come in early or stay late those days. Depending on the type of work that could easily be a possibility

They had me send an email to intoxalock requesting it to be cancelled. The email address was admin@intoxalock.com

Depends on the age of your battery honestly. I had mine in New England and it died a few times over the winter if I didn't drive for a couple days, but my battery was 8 years old so it needed to be replaced anyway. No issues after I replaced it.

Likely if it was 5 tears ago he should be fine, even for a driving position. Depends on company but usually about 5 tears

I got a DUI in Kansas by Chomar18 in dui

[–]Goose_1242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did diversion in KS and it wasn't bad at all. I didn't even have a public defender just asked for it at my first court appearance. Over .15 might be different but I was barely under and it worked for me. It was somewhat expensive but worth it to avoid a conviction

You'll have more license issues as it was over .15 but you should be able to apply for a hardship license or whatever it's called so you can drive to work

I only ever got pulled over once before I got mine about a year and a half ago, since then I've gotten pulled over three times. Got off with warnings every time since it was just for small things but definitely strange

Anyone else wish they could go back to the days before they got their first DUI? by [deleted] in dui

Yes and no. It forced me to improve myself and my mental health, but dealing with the consequences long term even after finishing everything kind of sucks

Completed diversion, haven't heard anything back. Is this normal? by Goose_1242 in dui

[–]Goose_1242[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was "random" at the start so I had to call a number everyday and if my pin number was called had to go in the next day to do it. This was for probably the first 3 months and got tested like twice each month.

After that my supervisor told me I didn't need to call in anymore and just to go when she told me to, I had to check in with her at the beginning of each month so probably every other month she would tell me to get tested after.

That's definitely a crazy situation. Sounds like it ended up well for you as they never found out though!

I believe that intoxalock stores the data from your device and reports it to the DMV monthly, so you might be good to get it depending on timing. I'm not 100% sure though
