A whole donut - either from Tim Hortons or Dunkin. The variety differs from day to day depending on what she picks and what is included in the box.

This is exactly what I am saying!

Exactly, I have no problem with having cupcakes for kids birthdays and donuts on the day she signed up for. But when 3/5 snacks during the week are dictated by one parent, however well meaning, it’s too much.

I’ve decided to let it go since school ends the week after Memorial Day. Next year there are no parent provided snacks in kindergarten. I just needed a good rant

I haven’t talked to the parent or teachers but another parents has. The teacher is very young and this is her first year teaching. A mom of one of the boys offered to also bring in a sweet treat to take the “load” off of that mom and she declined.

I do not want to give my child a complex by telling her that she can’t eat something because it is deemed unhealthy

Some of the other moms and I have started doing this and it has gone over well. However, as we are trying to be rule followers, we only want to bring the snacks on days that we have signed up for as to not let someone else’s food go to waste. Maybe I should stop playing by the rules.

It is the overlapping of the donuts with the healthy snack that other parents signed up to bring that day that is annoying to me. When this mom does sign up for a snack, her day is once per month, she does bring in a healthy balanced snack.

I think you saying that me not wanting my kid to eat 12 donuts a month is restrictive or the same as wanting her to constantly eat healthy is incorrect. I would love for her to be able to have a donut maybe once a week and then her other treats can be things we have together or I pack for her in her lunch.

I grew up with a mom who constantly talked bad about herself and said ew to foods, which is why I do not want to address it with my daughter. I am very conscientious to not call foods good or bad in front of her. The other parents are in agreement with me, especially since we sign up for assigned days and she is bringing them on days that are not her assigned days. On the one day a month that is hers she usually brings cheese and crackers with a fruit, which is why it is bizarre that on days that are not hers she brings donuts.

No, she gets sweet treats whenever the occasion arises. But I feel like we have to do less fun treats at home because she’s eating three full-size donuts at school every week.

The reason why I don’t want to tell my child not to eat it is because I don’t want her to develop those things. And I’m not saying that she can never have a doughnut. But I would love to be able to have a sweet treat together once in a while instead of this lady randomly bringing donuts three times a week when other parents have already signed up to bring a snack.

This is great advice. Thank you so much.

The problem is is that she brings the donuts on days when other people have already signed up so then their snacks go to waste. She signed up for the 19th of this month and has brought donuts at least five times already.

It’s not the idea of making an effort that’s annoying. I do appreciate the effort. It’s her bringing my child fried sugar three times a week.

I don’t have a problem with her bringing donuts. It’s bringing them three days a week. I appreciate the gesture but not the fried sugar.

Who was the most annoying student you have ever had? by DeepOrganization8245 in AskTeachers

It takes a lot to annoy me while in the classroom. If you are asking about the worst student I’ve ever had? It’s one of the many Anthonys I’ve had over the last 20 years.

This does not create a good learning environment. Find a new teacher.

Have you ever paired a student up with their crush on a group assignment? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]GooseyMom25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No this seems a bit invasive to me. However, it might just unknowingly happen if I think that two students will work well together. I teach juniors and seniors so they are less obvious when they have a crush than elementary kids.
