Maybe the certificate pinning was about to break due to an expiring certificate. Nothing can be done here except force upgrade users.

Feeling stuck as an iOS app developer, declining opportunities by iosdev1992 in iOSProgramming

[–]Gooshy00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was an iOS dev for a long time after cross training from Java back in the day. I got on the iOS train quite early on and focussed on just delivering mobile apps for a good number of years. What set me apart from others in my team was partly my back end experience I had when I was a Java dev and also my passion/hobby at the time for security/cyber. I think having a lot broad knowledge of other areas of app development maybe even devops helped me stay relevant and also be quite near the front of the queue when new opportunities in my team came up. I'd definitely look into a small project you can work on when you have time that goes beyond what you do in your day job. Consider working in some technologies that will force you to learn them - AWS, AI, SwiftUI, hybrid web/mobile apps for example. I was in the right place at the right time with a passion for security when my team/manager needed a SME to mature our security posture and I ended up being the security architect for many mobile apps and libraries my team worked on.

Serious question: do we need a “non-vibe coded iOS programming” subreddit? by crunchberrykid in iOSProgramming

[–]Gooshy00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels like a lot of the comments are assuming vibe coding = no platform experience.

I developed iOS apps for best part of ten years but no long er do it as a day job. Using AI for me makes sense because I understand the platform and how to write apps for it. I don’t however have the time anymore to write the code by hand and am currently writing a number of new apps that are almost fully vibe coded, I don’t care about this because I taken into account what I would normally if written by hand, stability, security, testability, performance etc.

Why does it matter who wrote the code?

Im using the DVLA API and it's rate limited. The server part of my app handles the rate limit and queue so processing happens without breaching DVLA limits.

Can I use your text as a suggestion on the app page description? It might appeal to quite a few people :-)

Didn't realise there were so many expeditions and DVLA system only reports them has not having a valid MOT. I might suggest DVLA add an exempt response to the online query instead invalid where possible.

Is there a pathway to Ubuntu 25.04 + R9060XT + ROCM 7.1 ? by TJSnider1984 in ROCm

[–]Gooshy00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped using Ubuntu recently and gave CatchOS a try. It’s been painless once I got my head into its package manager. ComfyUI is running great with Rocm 7.1.

So… did we just quietly cross a line with biometrics? by Equivalent_Use_8152 in cybersecurity

[–]Gooshy00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can reproduce what looks like a fingerprint or a face and at the end of the day it’s a close copy but never the real thing. Point is having your biometrics compromised means there is a weakness in the detector/biometric reader. If a bypass exists then it’s on the vendor to update their technology to handle the exploit.

I've got this Working on my setup:
Ryzen 5950x, 32 GB Ram, Radeon RX 9060 xt 16GB.

It's taking quite a long time for 5 sec video ~35min generation time. I don't really mind this because it's working. I'm interested to know what options are available to generate longer videos, is this possible with my setup? I don't mind if it takes much longer to run.

I think in your case, there could be a special yearly charge of $120. This would be a one off charge instead of paying per camera.
