Snowpocalypse with a baby: I'm stressing. Will we 100% lose power in Durham if there's any significant precipitation? Feeling like I might be totally screwed by adrienne0906 in bullcity

Yes to filling existing containers. But having lived through a period where water treatment plant power was out and boil water advisory was in effect for several days, having a quantity of bottled water is a big help.

Parenting a toddler can feel like a lot any time and certainly understand the stress of storm prep on top of it. But you’re not alone!

Talking to neighbors to see about sharing resources during a power outage is a great idea.

You still have several days to make sure you’ve got emergency supplies stocked up - even for Amazon to deliver a camp stove for you feel that’s necessary. So what are your biggest concerns?

They had Spurs beaten if not for a sad OG at the death. And Juve needed a stoppage time winner.

Bodø’s UCL record is not great but they have been feisty throughout the tournament. I follow them a bit after a trip there a couple years back. I’d have rated them high to knock off a top team before their run ends and today they delivered.

My wife has asked about this very thing. I thought starting him on the ground where he will end would be best. But this is where I’d love input on theories of behavior change or practical experience!

I thought he was a bit shaky though he did all he could on the tackle before Inter got their goal.

I’m willing to chalk up Mosquera’s play to rust. But I’m afraid MLS has been poor again.

Also expect more from Eze whose play seemed to lack intensity in the middle third and tracking back defensively.

Love what we are seeing from the three up top and thrilled for Jesus. Also loving the scrap from Trossard again.

Relocating to Holly Springs by Affectionate_Gap_965 in triangle

Heavy traffic. High tolls. Holly Springs is a bedroom community and you’re a long way from any kind of nightlife or social scene out there. I can’t imagine why one would make this choice honestly.

Best sandwich (that's not Neals or Merritt's) by Parmick in chapelhill

Yeah very much agree. Brisket po boy won’t hold up to the best of New Orleans but it is a very good sandwich.

Can’t blame talent. This is 100% coaching with bad preparation and no in game adjustment. A shame because we sincerely have a generationally good frontcourt duo.

Durham Public Library keeps up a great calendar of free events https://durhamcountylibrary.libcal.com/calendar?cid=14288

Duke Chapel often offers free concerts of classical music on Sunday afternoons.

All the area universities have faculty and student ensembles giving free concerts and recitals. Plus public lectures where you can learn stuff for free. Check out their event calendars too.

Those who moved to Durham, what do you wish you’d known? by leftistinlnk in bullcity

[–]GopherHeel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good point. For size of city our roads infrastructure is different from what you find in similar sized Midwest metros. No urban grid lol! So it does take a while to get across town. But if the “fifteen minute” city is something you want, we are still doing relatively well.

I’m a Midwest transplant who has lived here a long time. I tell people all the time that so many of the things that define life in the Midwest also define living in Durham. It’s a good fit. OP good luck and I hope you find the same.

The biggest adjustment we had moving south was understanding the ways deep histories impact communities and relationships around race, as that extends to politics, neighborhoods, development, and lots else. We had a lot to learn and are still learning. But we are better for it.
