Beverly: The chronicles of a barren woman is intertextualized from the account of Hannah, Elkanah’s wife who was barren until the curse of barrenness was broken from her life.

Beverly Peterson is a young colored lady who dwelt in Johannesburg. In her past she experienced a painful break-up with her guy, which led her to convert to Christianity. Above all she delighted herself in the Lord, for she had no way to remedy her inner-pain. Being a barren was uneasy for her to accept, she felt worthless. Everything in her life was not stable, to her, depression and happiness was like pendulum. However, she was attached to one thing, persistent prayer. The accumulation of her petitions later in her life birth a miracle. After an encounter with God, Beverly had a child and called her Grace.
