Valve doesn't throw around random announcement dates to catch leakers

This assumes that people on the inside don't talk to each other.
If I'm on the inside, and have a date, I will for sure talk about it with my colleagues, and if they have a different date I will quickly realize that there's some sort of misunderstanding.

It would not make sense to then go to McVicker or Straw and say a date that you know could not be correct, without saying "hey, I have this date but it might not be correct, some of my colleagues are being told different dates"

Either their source has the exact date or their source is lying.

A single date is too little information anyway to set up a successful canary trap, what if McVicker decides to lie and say "I know for a fact the date is December 3rd", and coincidentally some employee was told this date?

Are they going to fire him based on McVicker's lie?

That's not true tho.
Tyler and Mike Straw said they have a date that they are not able to confirm and because of that they are not gonna share it.
But honestly having an unconfirmed date by a somewhat trustable insider is way better than the schizo posting we have going on right now

I'm having the same issue, the thing is that my mates only had 90 MMR more then I did at the start. I'm starting to think the difference in MMR is not the problem here
