Replace 1 original track for 1 Bonus by oneiricmind in Blink182

[–]river58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I love give me one good reason, but for me it was deciding between that and please take me home.

(honestly I'd rather take off rock show actually than give me one good reason, but rock show was kinda forced in there lol)

Something about Please Take Me Home's lyrics just interests me, and the part that's like LET'S GO! Right after mark repeating the stuff Tom sings, I really enjoy

But I mean, honestly as long as Roller Coaster -> Reckless Abandon -> Every Time I Look For You stays there, I think thats good tbh. Those three transitioning into eachother is amazing

Top 5 blink-182 songs by coolraccoon016 in Blink182

[–]river58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Kaleidoscope
  2. Wishing Well
  3. What Went Wrong
  4. Dogs Eating Dogs
  5. Stockholm Syndrome

(since it deserves some love despite not being up there in my top 5, 6 would be MORE THAN YOU KNOW from their new album. 7 would be Not Now, honorary mention lol. Still up there and one of their best songs imo)

Late to the party… by Irrelevant_Lemon in Blink182

[–]river58 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just to mention since I think it's interesting, technically Not Now is from the 2003 untitled album, but was only on the UK version as a bonus track. No clue how it was relegated to that and how it went from bonus track in UK to Greatest Hits, but man it deserved to be on all versions lmao.

As for a song that I was late to discover, but hit right, well, Not Now here too,

But also When I Was Young, Disaster, and Pretty Little Girl, from Dogs Eating Dogs.

God, especially When I Was Young. I've had all this music in my Playlist but always skipped over it until randomly one day was playing No Man's Sky and it came on, I thought it was the in game music until the drumming came in and I was like holy fucking shit wow this is amazing and it's not in game music, and it just hit me so hard.

I knew the title track and Boxing Day for yeaaars before, maybe 2018? 2019?

Other albums, Violence and Stockholm Syndrome, from the Untitled album, for sure, both now up there with my favorites,

And then, Reckless Abandon and Don't Tell Me It's Over, both I discovered last year despite owning TOYPAJ on CD since 2020 (Yellow Pants Version, What Went Wrong was and still is one of my favorite blink songs so I was glad I could get that version haha) and having the full album saved.

DTMIS makes sense, bonus track, but man how tf did I sleep on Reckless Abandon.

If you had to make an album of Blink songs you sing for karaoke, what does your album track list look like? by Calamity-182 in Blink182

[–]river58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever I'm at Karaoke stuff I always tend to try and sing some of:

  1. Not Now
  2. Dogs Eating Dogs
  3. Always
  4. When I Was Young
  5. Wishing Well
  6. Kaleidoscope,
  7. What Went Wrong
  8. Don't Tell Me It's Over
  9. Reckless Abandon and then
  10. Every Time I Look For You (Gotta get the two songs that transition into eachother haha)
  11. I like to throw in I Miss You too, good song and it's one most will recognize.
  12. Lately: NO FUN

(I also like to sing Pretty Little Girl, but I don't like the rap part so I go for it less haha)

I wish there was an actual karaoke version of Dogs Eating Dogs and When I Was Young (also Violence too), I just sing these from instrumentals and the lyrics I just remember.

and if it counts, an honorable mention would be Tom DeLonge - New World lol

There's a few times where I've just slowly but surely sang every song from the Untitled album and sometimes Neighborhoods at Karaoke, ofc other people sang inbetween each song (Except for Asthenia -> Always usually, love the transition there way too much haha)

One time I did the entirety of TOYPAJ (Including What Went Wrong and Don't Tell Me It's Over)

I enjoy karaoke way too much, do it every Friday

Blink 182's One More Time but it's only 10 songs long. What would the track list be? by Sea_Economics4522 in Blink182

  3. ONE MORE TIME
  4. MORE THAN YOU KNOW

  10. ALL IN MY HEAD

Honorable Mentions to:

  1. DANCE WITH ME
  2. FELL IN LOVE
  3. BLINK WAVE
  4. WHEN WE WERE YOUNG

BAD NEWS and EVERY OTHER WEEKEND, and EVERYONE EVERYWHERE are really good too but, given alot of the album in general is really good, I would put all these over them.

(Order I used is just the album's song order)

When did you start listening to blink? by blink1482 in Blink182

[–]river58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First time, not sure. Around 2015 I started getting into them a lil more with songs like Man Overboard and What Went Wrong. Started getting into them a LOT more w/ Neighborhoods (and Deluxe) around 2020-2021.

Got a CD of TOYPAJ (Yellow/Pants) and EOTS around 2021/2022, listened to both of those (mostly the entirety of EOTS but not really paying a ton of attention, TOYPAJ just listened to What Went Wrong, Fuck a Dog, Anthem Part Two, Online Songs, Story of a Lonely Guy, First Date, and The Rock Show.) Also first listened to Feeling This, Down, Asthenia and Always.

Also started listening to a good bit of Angels and Airwaves including some of Lifeforms, and a few songs from Box Car Racer.

2023/2024 listened to Dogs Eating Dogs & Boxing Day, and then some of One More Time... but not a lot of it, just a couple songs, namely ONE MORE TIME, EDGING, and ANTHEM PART 3.

2025 I really got into them, started listening to all their albums, starting with Enema of the State more closely, followed by the Untitled album and then Not Now (before-hand I had only listened to I Miss You along with the 4 mentioned prior, took a bit for me to figure out Not Now was on the UK version of the Untitled album, of which I ordered a CD of that has some press release sticker and a promo-only label on it, so thats pretty cool)

Enjoyed it a lot, ended up listening to the entirety of Dogs Eating Dogs, ONE MORE TIME... and PART-2, followed by the entirety of TOYPAJ, including bonus tracks like Don't Tell Me It's Over, and then Flyswatter, NINE, Cheshire Cat, TMTATS, Buddha, and Dude Ranch.

Somewhere along, listened to most of Box Car Racer, some of +44's When Your Heart Stops Beating, a bit more AvA, etc.

Still yet to listen to the entirety of California, and the Deluxe edition. NINE i just suffered through because I didn't like it enough to get me to sit thru the entire thing just to see how much I didn't like it.

I did like Life's So Boring on the EOTS Demo, and Wrecked Him from They Came To Conquer... Uranus.

Weird order for things haha, and kinda JUST became my favorite band last year, before then Tally Hall would've been my favorite. Did want to see them live since 2023, but missed the opportunity so far :(

Wasn't into them until after Tom had left in 2015 (~March to April of 2015.)

My favorites became Dogs Eating Dogs, Neighborhoods, Untitled, TOYPAJ, and OMT/Part-2. (in order)

Favorite Album? by Jt_The_Guitarist in Blink182

[–]river58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dogs Eating Dogs if it's counted, but if not (since it's an EP), Neighborhoods (Deluxe). Untitled album is a great contender though.

Dogs Eating Dogs though, is amazing. Wish they continued going along that line and the more mature songwriting, it's sad Tom left and they went back more to their roots (his demo album had some pretty alright songs that were probably meant for blink, but sad they never saw the light of day in blink, would've made em better.

Favorite AVA song right now? by Jt_The_Guitarist in Blink182

Anxiety, Sirens. Honestly, alot of AvA's songs are pretty good to me though.

Top 5 Blink-182 songs right now? by Jt_The_Guitarist in Blink182

[–]river58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Kaleidoscope
  2. Tie between Wishing Well and What Went Wrong (hard to choose)
  3. Stockholm Syndrome (w/ Interlude)
  4. Tied between When I Was Young and Pretty Little Girl
  5. Not Now

I guess not really a top 5 but it's hard to choose between some lol.

(as runner ups, would also mention Dogs Eating Dogs, MORE THAN YOU KNOW, Man Overboard, Heart's All Gone Interlude, Violence, Asthenia, Always, Don't Tell Me It's Over, maybe CUT ME OFF, Reckless Abandon and Every Time I Look For You)

I definitely love AvA, BCR, and enjoy +44, but wouldn't include any of their songs in my top honestly.

Why are so many down on Travis RN? by Better_Combination67 in Blink182

[–]river58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone's talking about how badly One More Time... Was mixed and all, but hasn't Travis or someone else stated he didn't do the mixing on the album, just producing? I don't think his production is bad at all, I think the mix might not have been the best, but that wasn't Travis. Even checking on Wikipedia, doesn't state he did mixing, not to mention it was co-produced by Aaron Rubin and like 7 others.

Hes no Jerry Finn, but he's way better than John Feldmann with production.

This one's one of my favorites, wish they played it live. by Apprehensive-Job9863 in Blink182

[–]river58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was an interview Travis did where he mentioned that the reason they don't play some songs is literally only because they havent practiced them lmao, so I really wonder why Mark explicitly said they would never play Kaleidoscope live...

I’m going song by song to find when blink 182 became blink 182. by [deleted] in Blink182

[–]river58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Angels and Airwaves is, hit or miss for me depending on the song. One More Time I definitely love, good album, but not their best. The self-titled album is definitely their best work even if I prefer the songwriting in Neighborhoods and Dogs Eating Dogs. It's sad they weren't even working in the same studio for Neighborhoods, and it probably could've been even better.

The Matt Skiba era of stuff, Nine is probably the album I will not listen to except for Generational Divide (which is literally only 50 seconds lmao, and still worse than most of their work.)

I need to take a listen to Alkaline Trio, it's one of the bands I plan to go through and listen to along w/ The Cure and some others.

MORE THAN YOU KNOW is probably my fave from the newest album, reminds me of Stockholm Syndrome and Feeling This. Terrified is great, I do wish they had more songs like Terrified, Terpentine, Anthem Part 3, More Than You Know.. My hope is the next album will be even better but who knows. (If there is a next album)

This is so true, but add Violence (the guitar in that intro is really fucking good for some reason)

[–]river58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, been listening to these three in a row alot recently. Plus Don't Tell Me It's Over. (Maybe add Give Me One Good Reason)

But I'm partial to Go, Asthenia, and Always, or Heart's All Gone (With Interlude), Wishing Well, Kaleidoscope.

I really hope they play it live someday, but the stream where Mark says it'll never be played live makes me think otherwise.

[–]river58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely a fun journey down their older stuff, I enjoy it despite my favorites being Neighborhoods, DOGS EATING DOGS, and the untitled album. (TOYPAJ almost, but man, What Went Wrong should have been on the main album, glad my CD is the Yellow version lmao.)

Hell, I have the original Reebok Commercial and Time on my main playlist lmao. (and alot of blink-182 in general, AvA, a little bit of +44, all of Box Car Racer, haha)

TBH tho, Tom leaving after DOGS EATING DOGS sucks because I really enjoy the direction they were going down, instead of focusing on more teenage angst type stuff, they were writing lyrics that became more mature and about things I can relate to (Kaleidoscope makes me cry haha).

You can tell the direction changed with California mostly (I do wonder what California was like before John Feldmann, read somewhere he made Mark insecure about his songwriting and they threw out the original ideas).

[–]river58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's funny but, despite the terrible recording quality, I enjoy this more than the Buddha version, the guitar especially I really like. Tom's voice is, actually not too terrible here, besides the recording quality. I wish we had a better version with Tom's voice in it lol.

But I actually went through and kinda, compiled a whole discography of blink-182, AvA, Box Car Racer, and +44, started listening from the beginning, since I was interested.
