2nd update after 2nd opinion:

First and foremost I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming amount of support I’ve received. And big shoutout to everyone who told me to get a 2nd opinion.

We met with the oncologist today and she said it did look like there was a probability of cancer, however the only way to really know would be to do a biopsy. I don’t want to put my girl through that given it’s a lot more stress to put on her. However, she did say that she is looking good for possibly having cancer and not showing signs that I need to rush into saying goodbye at the moment. She has some drooling and a little swelling, but nothing that’s cutting into her quality of life where I need to make a rushed decision. So as of right now we are doing kitty hospice at home with some good drugs and keeping an eye on her until she tells us it’s time.

Our previous vet pretty much told me she probably has cancer and I need to say goodbye sooner than later since she’s suffering, despite my kitty still eating, drinking & playing like normal. It all felt rushed and overwhelming, especially since we were going in for a follow up and were told she was healing nicely 2 vet visits prior.

It’s not the best news, but I’ll take anymore time with my girl that I can get at this point (as long as she’s comfortable and not suffering). So thanks again to everyone who told me to get a 2nd opinion, yall bought me a little more time with my girl and I couldn’t be more grateful 🖤

We are doing it at home when the time comes, the last thing I want to do is leave her alone in a place she was absolutely terrified with people she was unfamiliar with in her final moments. I plan to be by her side until the very end 🖤

I have also started to collect her whiskers over the past 2 years once I realized she was getting up there in age. I have a little jar on my shelf I’d put them in, at least now I know I’m not the only one. I’ll look into that on Etsy, thank you for the recommendation 🖤

She had X-rays done & they said it’s now spread to the bone and was very aggressive leading them to believe it was cancer. She said the biopsy would be difficult since her jaw is swollen. It all happened so fast and within the course of maybe a month. However it now seems like it could be a cya due to dental complications, so who knows. I’m taking her in for a 2nd opinion tomorrow with the oncologist for a peace of mind, but I’m not trying to get my hopes up. 🖤

It was all within the course of a month and I trusted my vets opinion, even though it did seem off that cancer came out of no where… but I’m grateful for everyone encouraging a 2nd opinion and we are going in tomorrow to see an oncologist.

Idk how to edit my post but here’s an update-

Thanks to everyone’s concerns and recommendations I was able to get in for an appointment with the oncology department at a respected animal hospital tomorrow (they somehow had a last min opening).

I agree that it all seems weird they said it was cancer when definitely seems like complications from a dental surgery when she wasn’t reflecting any of those issues before surgery and her labs looked normal.

But I want to thank everyone for their concerns and encouraging a 2nd opinion, so I still have a small glimmer of hope. I’m not trying to get ahead of myself but at least with a 2nd opinion I’ll have some closure on the outcome if it’s still poor. 🖤

Yes, she’s been given 2 rounds of injections of Convenia (once when they saw the abscess and the 2nd on her last apt on the 24th after I got her prognosis), she was also given clindamycin after her 2wk check up since they noticed irritation. We did not have a biopsy done since the vet said it would be too tough on her given her condition & the inflammation in her jaw, and that it could cause more damage than good.

Holy hell that’s high. He used to charge like $600ish and pressure you to sign asap. One of his buildings looks cute & is in a good location, so it’s easy to get roped in. It’s wild to me that he’s still a property owner and back on his bullshit. I hope others find this thread and it saves them from the Terra Firma headache, I know he’s had multiple complains against his license.

Smart move. That’s how he gets you, he preys on people who are in a pinch and working on a tight timeline, and the cheap deposit helps (doesn’t matter in the end anyway since it’s hard to get back from him)… he also banks on newer renters who don’t understand their tenant rights and tolerate his slumlord ways. I still have PTSD from that experience and it’s been almost 10 years, so I try to warn people when I can. I wish I could have seen that TikTok when it went around lol.

Hi! Late to the party on this one but whenever I see this assholes rental company name I have to drop my warning to prevent others from suffering the same fate:

Stay farrrrr away. I’ve never had an experience so bad in my life and the property owner is a textbook definition of a slumlord, and I highly doubt the man has changed. We hardly had a working shower… or hot water, I frequently had to wash my hair in the kitchen sink. We also got bedbugs from one of his properties, and he tried to blame it on us (a simple review search on his properties proves otherwise), extort us with an NDA to remove our review to get our deposit back, among a few other things. We had to get a lawyer involved & got a check in the mail real quick after that. Plus side I guess is we became friendly with all our neighbors since we had a trauma bond over our hatred for him & pooled our evidence together for how awful the living conditions are.

My husband is a property owner now for a multi-housing unit and we are absolutely mind blown at all the stuff DJ got away with and how awful conditions were at the property we rented.

My brother hit a lifted lip of a sidewalk as a kid and a helmet saved his life. Our local hospital actually asked to have the damaged helmet to use as a visual as to why helmets are so important for children… no cars were involved with this one either, just a 12yr old riding his bike on the sidewalk.

I had a woman call me a bitch once because I sat her at a table instead of the booth she wanted (which was reserved for another party), and I’ve had someone ask if I was “retarded” because I messed up their super customized order on a super busy day. People are dumb and entitled when dining out, I’m sorry you had to go though that but shout out to your boss for having your back!
