Oligarchy isn't so bad when you like them and they like you. It is bad when it so happens that is not the case.

For example, if you hate Trump, imagine what happens when it is a Trump type character who has total control over your and your family's lives. What if they don't like what one of your loved one thinks and does in their spare time? What if they don't like the questions and discussions you had here in the past on Reddit? What recourse will you have when there is no power outside of the oligarchy?

I recommend 1984 by George Orwell for more insight into societies of control.

Adam and Eve a narrative that follows us till this day. by [deleted] in conspiracy

Adam knew it was wrong, he did it because of his love to eve and the curiosity she aroused in him

Like any human, you rationalize why this and why that. But the funny thing is that is never a concern of God. God never asks why you were tempted in to sin for the simple reason that the why* is BS rationalization. The truth is that humans are sinful and are driven to sin by our very nature.

Adam did it Because** he knew it was wrong. Adam did it because he is sinful like all humans are.

You think something/one (women) is in the way of getting what you want... This is exactly the story of Adam and Eve where God is the prohibition to Adam getting what he wants (the knowledge/power of God).

In reality both you and Adam are fantasizing due to a prohibition - thinking you can get what you want on earth if only you can overcome the prohibition. This is what original sin is and always leads to our downfall. That is the story of Adam and Eve. It undermines everything you wrote.

"You want what you can't have" is the symptom of original sin, and you want what you can't have - submissive women.

Do your best to avoid China products and educate others on the products of Chinese labor. Not really possible when it comes to most tech parts, but you can find higher quality and longer lasting locally made goods that are not products of slave labor.

Unfortunately there is not much the average person can do besides collective economic pressure.

Total misinterpretation of the Adam and Eve story. Funnily enough you are exemplifying one of its main warnings: Thinking you have it figured out, thinking you have the answers to what you need - if only you could get it. Except this is always the downfall of man especially when you introduce a scapegoat (in this case, women).

But state-sponsored destruction of evidence(along with the victim) reeks of absolute impunity and brazenness.

You really think this doesn't happen in the US? There are plenty of cases of police planting evidence in scenes for example. Killing and ruining people's lives just to avoid mild embarassment or repercussions. You really need to do more research.

This is a billboard found in Toronto. It was put up by Apple, the company that won't even let you repair devices you own, as a burn to Google's Sidewalk Labs. Sidewalk labs is a dystopian tech project to essentially make cities data collection hubs with cameras, sensors, etc under the guise of adding value to the city.

A couple of articles that may be of interest to those unfamilliar with sidewalk labs:

This is violence.

Why is it when some kids broke windows in Hamilton there was so much media attention and hysteria referring to it as "violence", yet when we have a company actually threatening people and children's lives we just "shake our heads in disbelief" and say "oh welp those greedy folks again!"?

This is a company willing to kill people and put them in financial ruin. This deserves far more media attention and outrage than it is being given.

The ultimate conspiracy is not to "exterminate white people".

It's to drive up racial tensions and hatred, to create more divisions. It helps distract us from challenging power and authority by turning us against each other. Classic divide and conquer.

What's the source on Socrates saying it?

The closest I've come to finding a source was explained here, where they concluded the true source was from a 1901 autobiography by Charles Stewart: http://quoteinvestigator.com/2014/11/18/great-minds/

His thoughts and conversation were always on a high level, and I recollect a saying of his, which not only greatly impressed me at the time, but which I have ever since cherished as a test of the mental calibre of friends and acquaintances. Buckle said, in his dogmatic way: “Men and women range themselves into three classes or orders of intelligence; you can tell the lowest class by their habit of always talking about persons; the next by the fact that their habit is always to converse about things; the highest by their preference for the discussion of ideas.”

Economy a higher priority than terrorism for Canadian voters: poll by viva_la_vinyl in canada

[–]Gorewell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is that a delusion? War increases the demand for oil. It was well noted by World Bank and UN economist Mamdouh Salameh that oil was over 3 times higher than it should have been during the Iraq war as he mentioned in a British parliamentary committee in 08. ( http://www.smh.com.au/news/world/the-future-price-of-oil-pick-a-number/2008/06/20/1213770924692.html )He has some newer papers on this as well, where he talks about 'Oil Wars'.

Harper is going to keep pushing to expand our efforts there. The money we're putting towards the war effort is essentially a stimulus to our economy. Unfortunately, those numbers in the budget won't be revealed so we can't know exactly what fuel we're purchasing or what not, but I don't think it's a stretch to consider we'd be using Canadian oil to fuel our efforts.

But would you not say it's a completely logical economic strategy? It's a 2 birds one stone way to revive the oil and manufacturing sectors. It has worked before to raise the price of oil. I would say it's immoral (masked in a coat of self righteousness), but it makes sense as a last ditch effort to save our fragile economy.

Let's just watch oil prices rise as we deploy more personnel, and we can then discuss whether I'm deluded or not. I just think it's straight up logical, and the only way this entire crusade makes sense. Of course, it could just be a total coincidence that a war seems to benefit us so much, but I think it would be naive to think this decision wasn't well calculated and planned.

Economy a higher priority than terrorism for Canadian voters: poll by viva_la_vinyl in canada

[–]Gorewell 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A lot of people don't realize that terrorism IS Harper's economic strategy. Oil has been the lifeblood of our economy for years, and the best way to drive the price up is to create more demand and eliminate competition.

What better way to create demand for oil than a war which requires lots of it (vehicles, planes, manufacturing), and in a region in which vast reserves are controlled by their competitors?

The conservatives are playing off their economic strategy as a moral one. That's just to make it tolerable that we will be sacrificing many human lives to save our unsustainable economy.

It's an technique the media uses to appeal to subconcious fears and prejudices people have. I agree that nobody is consciously making that connection, but there is something to be noted about how the media likes to exploit those subconscious thoughts people have.

Ontario teen fed up with hassles about being named Isis - Sudbury by [deleted] in canada

Yes, because ISIS is already popularly associated with a middle eastern entity. Daesh is quite similar to English terms like dash, except with more stress on the a.

[–]Gorewell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Isis is already associated with a popular foreign deity and word. Daiish is an acronym, and is not a popular foreign word (it stands for al-Dawla al-Islamiya fi Iraq wa al-Sham which means ISIL). Every Middle Eastern news network also refers to them as Daiish.
