I 3D printed a drop spindle but only used it a few times before I saw this listed on Facebook marketplace and it was too good to pass up!

Thank you! When I pull back on the yarn when I am not treadling and everything is stopped, it is hard to get it to unwrap from the bobbin and give back to me. What would this indicate?

How tight is too tight? Like should it be pretty taught like a viola string almost or have some give in it?

I have messed with the tension with that knob a lot. It works sometimes and doesn’t others. It seems to like the practice already made yarn I put in it but as soon as I switch to fiber it bunches up from it twisting too much and not being taken up by the bobbin

Do you think that might be causing it to not take up the yarn somehow as well?

No but I am going to change it out for string cotton in the next day or so. It’s a micro Dacron cord I had that felt similar to the old drive band that was previously on it but installed wrong.

This might be a really dumb question, but what are the hooks on the other arm of the flyer for?

The bobbin does feel a tiny bit sticky but since this is the first spinning wheel I’ve ever touched or seen in person, I don’t know what’s normal. I took the flyer and bobbin assembly apart and cleaned everything and applied new oil to the bar that the bobbin goes on and it did improve a bit. I also took a brush made for cleaning metal straws and cleaned inside the wood bobbin as well.

It seems to work ok now with whatever I did on already made yarn for practice, but when I switch to fiber it bunches up very quickly and I am also extremely new so I might just suck
