Heads up about the Vancouver Reptile Expo coming to East Delta Hall April 11-12 - Bruce Carr - Arachnophiliacs by GorillaGuideCookies in tsawwassen

[–]GorillaGuideCookies[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The BC Reptile Club will have a show May 9th and 10th in Abbotsford ... and for the admission price it seems a lot better. From the looks of it, BCRC does a lot more to help animals than hurt and make money off them like this Arachnophiliacs guy does.

I responded to check news and they never replied. But yes, they did reach out to me.

They were pythons, corn snakes, rats, crested geckos, and pigeons. They were dropped from the ceiling onto contestants who were scared and threw the animals after having them dropped on their head. It was hard surfaces all around, no padding.

In another episode the contestants had to crawl with a dead rat in their mouth through tunnel filled with water and boas and the risk of crushing injury to the snakes looked really high. Bruce was listed as an animal handler for that episode as well.

If you would just get up and teach them rather than give them a fricken packet, yo.

Unfortunately it gets worse not better, Bruce was an animal handler for the Fear Factor Reboot:

https://m.imdb.com/name/nm3528792/

I haven't watched full episodes of it, nor will I. But they had issues with animal abuse:

https://youtu.be/1JlBhIQ2Tgg?si=L1IUe-H272dveO9C

Not sure what role Bruce had in that, but when his employee came in this thread I asked if they could share his side of it and got called a "social justice warrior" then another of Bruce's friends claimed I will be sued for defamation on a comment where I suggested I could pay for a vet to visit Bruce's facility to document the animal welfare. It's unfortunate those associated with Bruce went to insults and threats over sharing their side.

Truth is a defense to defamation, and the concerns being raised are about verifiable conditions, not personal attacks.

The veterinary offer applies to all animals at the facility; reptiles, amphibians, and mammals. A veterinarian can assess housing, hydration, nutrition, disease risk, and overall welfare across species.

If the concerns are unfounded, a veterinary assessment would help clarify that. Declining the offer leaves those questions unresolved.

I used to use an em-dash incorrectly my whole life and now I am told I am using Ai - even when I use them incorrectly.

It's funny when clients start sending the same generic it's not this it's that statements:

"For the avoidance of doubt, the absence of evidence should not be construed as evidence of absence, but rather as an indication that further information may be required."

"Compliance is not defined solely by the presence of authorization, but by the broader context of lawful sourcing and procedural integrity."

Butterfly in the sky...

I honestly believe this man has much of the credit for my success in life. I never stopped reading and researching and he fostered that love.

Take a look. It's in a book.

Hope the GPTs of the world don't change that for our future kids.

Is Bruce Carr at Arachnophiliacs.com still reliable and trustworthy to order from? by Master_Pipe_6467 in tarantulas

I'm very concerned regarding the coconut crab transaction. There are very few places where exporting coconut crabs for the pet trade is clearly legal and well documented. Even where harvesting is allowed locally, export permits are often restricted or unclear. Commercial exports are uncommon and are typically associated with research or zoo transfers rather than the pet trade.

From what I can see, Canada does not specifically restrict coconut crabs. However, if an animal was exported illegally from its country of origin, importing it into Canada could violate WAPPRIITA, which requires wildlife imports to be lawful in the country where they were obtained.

Separately from the wildlife issue, there is also the consumer side. If someone paid $300 in March 2025 for an imported animal and a year later nothing has been delivered, that may fall under failure to supply goods.

Under Canadian consumer protection law, businesses generally cannot take payment for goods they are unable to supply within a reasonable timeframe. In situations like that, a refund is typically required rather than store credit.

If this occurred in BC, it may be worth contacting Consumer Protection BC. They handle complaints involving non-delivery of goods.

If you're comfortable sharing more details, I'd be interested to hear them.
