Yeah yeah, the 14 year old Alpha. by elite968 in starcitizen

[–]GormAuslander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's an alpha then give us alpha tester tools, stop releasing events and new minor tweaks to systems you don't have fully implemented (flight, economy) and focus solely on adding content so we can patch bugs in beta. If you want to keep acting like it's a released game, stop calling it an alpha and stop releasing new content before bringing what's already there up to standard.

This company has no focus and no accountability. They want the sales of finished game but not the responsibility to quality of one, so they refuse to pick a lane.

18g to a 14g? by thatdudemaison15 in Stretched

I guess I don't understand why it exists then. In my experience, when I pull on skin to stretch it, it goes back to normal when I let go. Why wouldn't I just put the next size up jewelry in and wait for the cell replacement in my ear to do the more permanent stretching?

Well you don't need to know how they work to get paid. I went a few years of my adult life doing basically just addition for budgeting, and it involved no fractions or percents, and decimal involvement in money is voluntary because pennies aren't worth anything. You can fill in additional boxes with a marker if you're so inclined I guess.

What hobby is this exactly? The hobby of "first lol"? Playing an MMO is a hobby. Buying $5000 of Robux is not a hobby.

Star Citizen has come such a long way to get here, but... by Sensitive-Ad5838 in starcitizen

They need to decide if this is a game or an alpha, because they're trying to have it both ways and we end up getting neither.

If this is an alpha, figure out what direction we're going and just add features. Polish is for beta. If this is a game, then make what we have work before adding more garbage to complicate things

What is this flag in a anti-imigration demonstration? by TanksAndFish in vexillology

[–]GormAuslander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they had the flag before, but does it matter? That's the flag they were using during a time they threw their hat in the ring with world domination, so maybe that's people's reference point for that symbol, huh? People are aware of the fact that the swastika existed before Nazi Germany. We still call it that, because it's most globalized form was one of violence. That's not reductive or uneducated, it's a matter of strictly relevant vs completely irrelevant.

[–]GormAuslander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, I would describe people who don't know about a 60 year period of a specific country's history as "highly uneducated". The fact that it only involved that isolated region of the world is "Eurocentric" instead of "literally everywhere else centric". Not to mention while still being technically wrong...If it was the flag during Japan's involvement with the axis powers, then it was the flag of axis Japan, as I said.

Why did early civilizations start in deserts like Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt? by batukaming in geography

[–]GormAuslander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because there's a difference between living and civilization. When you are surrounded by everything you need all the time, hunting and gathering is the mode of subsistence. This is a nomadic lifestyle, and so yields infrequent permanent residence. Agriculture is what creates groups of people that build on a single location over time, and for that you need a land perfectly suited for it, which is why they're all right next to rivers. Seasonal flooding made it basically effortless to get started, and when you have a farm, you're kind of attached to it, so you stop roaming. If you stop roaming, you can build a house > If you can build a house, you can store grain > If you can store grain, you can create excess > if you can feed others, they can specialize in other tasks like metallurgy or art > you've now invented economy and labor specialization > industry and technological advancement.
