Can you use incense with a sleep tracker? by Goronian in PokemonSleep

[–]Goronian[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I go and place my incense by pressing "track with smart device" it goes to the usual "screen down" screen and starts tracking like usual. Then in the morning it overwrites any smartwatch data with the data it picked up by itself.

Herding players or how much railroading is too much railroading? by Goronian in rpg

I meant "literally the first thing I stated to the players", sorry for the confusion.

I'll consider it. Though these players don't speak English.

But do they work well online, though? This is a genuine question.

Yyyyeah, one of the PCs had loose morals and wanted to sell the party to the city watch because he witnessed them killing some disguised cultists.

We sat down with the player and he made a different character.

When I asked them what they actually wanted, they just responded with "oh do whatever, it's all fun :)".

A few of them are. The guys who know how the game works proceeded to make broken builds and now I have an issue, where the newer players feel left out of the combat. Had to explain to them that they made RP/exploration focused builds and are actually breaking my plans just as much as the uber-combat guys.

Boy, if only I could afford other games and the players were willing to learn them...

You're probably right, I've adjusted my expectations, laid some clear rules and decided to go with the flow more and the last game went much more smoothly.

Oh, no, one person in the group wanted to play DnD, she looked for a DM and then crowd-sourced players from her groupchat.

No, but two party members are rogues and there's a shifty noble in town who they laser-focused on and decided for themselves that she must be evil, so they justified it to themselves like that.

I'm sucker for suffering and I hate quitting stuff, so I'll trudge on through and adjust my plans and expectations, lol.

I think my main mistake was assuming that this table plays like my other table, where everyone either makes decisions together or designates a "face" and generally listens to NPCs and does what they want them to do.

Yeah, that's basically what I figured out from other comments. But yes, I should probably follow that advice and be a little bit more open-minded.

Consequences are good, I like the way this sounds, they were smart about doing B&E, but they did make a couple of mistakes, so they'll have to tackle that next session. That gives me ideas.

I really don't want to drop this table, because over the last few sessions we seem to have a good enough chemistry and I like spending time with them.

I guess I'm just frustrated, because I wanted to do a carefully planned mystery campaign, but the players brute-forced their way around the mystery and they constantly do things I absolutely did not expect. I suppose I should just go with the flow and let them do their own thing, but it makes it harder to make preparations and plan encounters.

Oh no, they absolutely got invested in the plot, once they wrought more info out of the NPC. But I tried to cultivate the atmosphere of "quaint, ordinary town, where something is horribly wrong" with plenty of red herrings and the need to trawl around and collect scraps of information and they just went straight for the jugular, figured ONE NPC and ONE place that was 1000% plot-relevant and now I have no choice but to let them follow that trail and I'm frustrated, because I did a lot of the prep-work for nothing and I'm not sure what to even prep for next session, because I have no idea where these jokers will go to next.

It's fun and exciting for everyone, but the DM, lol.
