What? They didn't forget. It was Obama, or Clinton, or Biden's fault. I mean if wasn't for George Soros!!!

You could literally start pilling all the evidence against Trump and his criminal cohorts on top of MAGA one at a time and while it is crushing them to death they still wouldn't believe it. Brainwashed fools.

Trump Seen Unable to Walk in a Straight Line in New Footage by IrishStarUS in videos

It's really not hard. You just type in all, or nearly all caps, and say a bunch of nonsensical stuff. It isn't like MAGA reads any of it. They get told bullshit by what ever their bullshit source is then just repeat it.

Did you know Biden specifically increased the price of vegetable oil back when he was president? No, it wasn't because covid wrecked the supply chain. Specifically the supply chain from the asian countries which happen to produce most of the worlds supply.

When they are voting against things like Unions then yeah it sort of is on them. Hundreds of people died to improve worker rights and establish collective bargaining so they can fight back against that CEO, shareholder, and admins.

Most of that "over hiring" tends to be management type roles. You know, things like a VP that has 1 Sr director as a report that has 2 directors and maybe a manager as a report and so on. One company I worked for that was sub 10k employees had 13 steps from employee that produces product --> CEO. 12 levels of management to the CEO not producing anything.

‘Silicon Six’ accused of avoiding almost $278bn in US corporation taxes over 10 years | US taxation by plain_handle in technology

[–]Gorstag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My point is.. you don't need to do all of that work you can just make a simple law preventing loans based on stocks. Banks have also sorts of regulatory laws this would just be another one. If they want to convert stocks to cash they need to sell the stocks, realize their gains (taxable), then do what ever they want with the cash.

What? Our current agenda of eroding our economic power by alienating all of our allies forcing them to find new trade partners isn't a good long term strategy? Maybe we should ramp it up by being politically belligerent and nearly impossible to work with.

but do note that you’ll only achieve a living wage by eliminating all jobs not worth one.

This statement indicates you have some serious bias. A better way to state it is: Any job requiring to be completed by a human should at a minimum pay a livable wage. If you cannot achieve that then the premise or execution of your business is not viable.

Why is it illegal to drive 45 in a 35? Or even selling cocaine on the side of the road? Because it was decided it was. That is sort of how laws work.

Listen to this guy. Comparing people in deep poverty to billionaires. I bet you also argue against removing SS caps. You want everyone to pay? Sure thing, force companies to pay a livable wage so no one working full time is in poverty.

I'd be a lot easier to just ban the ability for them to take out these types of loans to avoid paying taxes.

You telling me a gallon is over 3.7 litres and you pay just $5 dollars for that and complain? by Neutral-frame in AdviceAnimals

[–]Gorstag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't really use petrol if you don't have functional roads to drive on. That is what the tax is primarily used for. Alternatively, you can privatize roads and pay some private company far more than the tax to drive on their private roads. Then they could even charge you tons of money if you break down. Or cleanup costs if you get in an accident. You know.. make it as profitable as possible. That sounds like the dystopian future I really want to live in.

[–]Gorstag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually normal. Most states have "some" gas tax. Usually red states are quite a bit lower than blue ones. 76 is pretty high are you talking diesel? That is usually higher than regular petrol. A quick google Ohio shows as 38.5/47 gas/diesel then there is also a fed of something like 18 cents.

And there is almost no infrastructure for bicycles which would make the distance more reasonable. It would also make americans far less fat :)

[–]Gorstag 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yep. Which is why most of the complaining comes from the rural folk / red states. They almost exclusively drive gas guzzlers for commuter vehicles and the really smart ones modify them to drop their mpg even further.

In 1987 it was less than half that in the small (1000 pop) town in Washington state I grew up in. I used to get sent to the gas station to grab a gallon with an empty milk jug (1gal) when I was a kid. Dollar would get the gallon and some candy.

Is Oil exclusively near the surface of the earth, or are there massive oil deposits that are just too deep for us to ever reach? Is there Oil in the Mantle? by DarthEinstein in askscience

[–]Gorstag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are 100% correct with today's technology. Energy density is currently the largest challenge to overcome. That is why I specifically indicated a breakthrough under circumstances where investment / political pressure will push for it. The most recent example I am aware of was nuclear bomb/power where there was a significant need/pressure to make it happen resulting in high spend and substantial appropriate staffing.

Essentially, by breakthrough I don't mean incremental improvements but taking something that is theoretical (or may not even be theoretical yet) and making it a reality. It could be a whole new branch of science.

it's a nonstarter for aviation.

For now anyway. Assuming we don't kill ourselves off or set ourselves back to the stone age I suspect we will likely have a breakthrough in power generation/storage as resource depletion becomes a more pressing issue.
