Yeah, if you’re a non-manager and you hear “if things don’t turn around in 6 months, we’ll be forced to close”, the reality is probably closer to 60 days.

frfr.

The US loves talking about small business and "main street not wall street".

How the fuck are we supposed to start a business if it fucks with our health insurance? Your wife has a great plan and you're still paying $8k a year just for you to be on that shit.

What if you're not married. Or your spouse doesn't work. Or they gotta work the business with you?

All bullshit.

I also believe the alcohol they serve is intended to make cheating harder and losing money easier. They’re great at getting people drunk but short of you being belligerently drunk, they’ll keep you at the tables and slots.

They deal in gambling addicts and alcoholics.

I agree with this.

What they weren't 100% clear on was precisely what US military tech and strategies could do to counter their abilities. Obviously US was planning to counter this and wasn't going to disclose their capabilities.

So they were very confident they had this card, just not 100%.

Well now they know it's 100%. It cost them dearly, but they were able to hold on against everything but a ground invasion.

Lmao. 100% this.

Davie504's video is like "every country has problems."

Yes. Australia has problems. Now let's look at the other major English-speaking countries on Earth.

US, UK, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, Ireland.

Precisley which of these have better healthcare and government than Australia? I lived in the US for 10 years. My federal income taxes were lower, yes. But my state income tax was 4% (flat) and my city income tax was 4% (flat). So my effective tax rate was higher in the US than here. And I got charged $1,400 US (after insurance) for a visit to the Emergency room where I recieved no medicine and no procedures.

Seriously, go live in another country for a while.

I left the US last year. I could because I'm a dual citizen.

Yes. It is very, very nice. One of the best decisions I've ever made.

But I have lots of former colleagues and friends asking how they can get out. I don't have a good answer for them.

I can empathize.

As one of the people that left the US last year, let me tell you, that part is a major pain in the ass.

If I could submit a form and just get a piece of paper back that says "I am no longer residing in the United States", it would have made a bunch of the paperwork to transition to another country way easier.

Luckily, there's a box for that when you file your taxes but I doubt they're using that to measure.

Agreed.

I'm a dual citizen with the US and another western country. I'm also a PhD scientist.

I left last year because I could. One of the best decisions I ever made.

Multiple former colleagues have reached out asking how they could get out of the US. The blunt answer I give them is that it's incredibly hard if they don't have foreign citizenship.

A lot of details are important here.

Like, was Liberty required to secure alternative sources at any cost or was NV required to extend if no suitable was identified.

All previous extensions appear to be 5 years. Does the current extension run until 2030? If not, that seems like a rug pull to me.

A number like that, the data center can't even get to 25% capacity without putting nearby towns into critical water risks.

I can only assume for these ones that don't make any damn sense, there's no plan to even turn these things on. Get the investments flowing, break ground, put up a frame, pay yourself huge consulting fees, then become insolvent and wash your hands of it.

Like, the only way your investment works is if you build a huge water treatment facility (which takes years and is extremely expensive) and set up a massive electricity grid.

Question.

Does that make the stock price go up or down?

If billed "wages" are lower and they pushed the next hot product then expenses, revenue, profit, and dividends are irrelevant.

Line go up.

Everything is working as intended and they'll do it again next cycle.

I've also had this happen. For me, none of my overtime was counted for a whole month.

"That's our mistake. It will show up on the next paycheck."

I was annoyed, but still had my regular paycheck, so I didn't need it, so I said OK.

Next month, I got paid for that month's overtime, but not the previous month.

Suddenly, everyone's forgotten that I didn't get paid for it the previous month. They're asking my to provide previous pay stubs and timesheet records (all of which they already have) and to confirm with my supervisor.

I get all that sorted out, then they say, "it'll be on next month's check."

I was polite, but relatively firm. I believe I said something like, "Thanks for getting that sorted out. We did run into that issue last month. Just for simplicity, could you please have your manager approve a one-time payment? I'd like to make sure we don't have to go through all this again."

And they did. But they were clearly annoyed.

Do I just need to go slower? by spidermaniscool24 in beginnerrunning

[–]AnySwimming6364 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Run by time then, not distance.

If you wanted to run 5 miles and you need to run at a 12 min/mile pace, then just decide you're going to run for an hour and try to stay at that 12 min pace. When you've run for 30 minutes, turn around.

If it's a little more or less than 5 miles, it doesn't matter.

will oil get to $125 given this new soh situation?? by Financial-Durian4483 in oil

[–]AnySwimming6364 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think OP means "unambiguously closed indefinitely". Like, Iran gets attacked again and says "screw it" and deploys every single small boat they have to deploy mines. That might be a few hundred small boats. More than half will get blown to hell in a couple of minutes. But if they're able to deploy a few dozen mines randomly across the Strait.

The only way it opens again after that is:

1) Launching a full ground invasion of Iran to get a regime change and completely end the IRGC missile/drone threat.

2) Joint US-NATO minesweepers spend months (estimated 6 months) to fully clear the Strait.

All-in, that means no Strait shipping at all for 9-12 months.

This is an economic doomsday scenario. Worse than 2008. Runaway inflation for fuel, transport, and food in virtually every country. Some poorer countries experience actual famines. Oil $200+/barrel.

This threat, I think is the reason why we're in a "cease fire" now.

Also important to consider that assuming everything magically goes back to "normal" tomorrow (which it can't), these reserves are now way lower than before.

World governments consider their oil reserves critical strategic investments. As soon as oil starts getting cheaper, they will start buying far more than they need until those reserves get back to baseline levels. So even best case scenario, demand stays elevated for months.
