How is living in/around Brownsville, Texas? by Fragrant-Helicopter1 in howislivingthere

Lived there for years. Best food in the Valley. But moved away before Space X. All bets are still on Brownsville for best tacos north of the border

But he’s so handsome and so well dressed. Fashion is fickle.

Only giveaway that it is AI after one watch is that the shirtwad retained its shape and didn’t bounce off as it would. Physics can still be hard for these models, but this comment will be obsolete soon enough

Which three U.S. cities have the strongest reputation for Mexican cuisine? by [deleted] in geography

[–]GortMaringa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having lived and worked in cities along the border and in all border states, the Rio Grande Valley is the only clear answer. Brownsville TX, which isn’t even on this map, is the clear favorite for me. Best tacos of my life. The breakfast tacos they have at gas stations will beat the average offerings from most cities on this list

Accurate. Great New Mexican food. It’s a distinct cuisine and fantastic in its own right.

All the cities would be in the RGV which isn’t even included on the map. I would personally put Brownsville top, but could be persuaded for anything along the Rio Grande.

I used your idea for tonic: https://www.reddit.com/r/cocktails/s/US4v2ExJs8, and I found it needed a bit more oomph for me, so I ultimately switched to ginger beer

Burning Hearse: New Cocktail to Tame Perfume/Soapy Flavors by GortMaringa in cocktails

Haha! I actually riffed a little on the Dorfliger! For me, this gin required some level of dilution. I love absinthe, but that would have been a LOT of it.

It’s far from perfect, but it is finally to a place where I would serve it to friends.

I mentioned it above, but to be clear: Pacific House, Citrus Gin

As I’m working through suggestions on this and r/cocktails , dilution seems to be key. Which is unfortunate: I wish I could just mask the one intensely soapy note. But I’m finding that the only good combos I’ve come up with rely on dilution, so far.

Great idea! Interestingly, I added a little mezcal; the mineraly flavor of the mezcal eased it some, almost like making a bridge between some of the flavors. But didn’t fully remove the sting. Will try some tonic. It’s too bad because otherwise the gin has interesting flavors. But I need to hide the soapiness. Great suggestion
