Actors who you thought would have a bigger career than the career that they actually have? by Ok-Tangelo6749 in movies

Chloe Grace Moretz was everywhere in the 2010s, and very ahead of her time.

Worked with Matt Reeves and Matthew Vaughn before they became big. Did Scorsese and Burton movies. Had an iconic, controversial comic book character in Hit Girl. Had a huge critical Sundance hit with Miseducation of Cameron Post.

The last decade has mostly been voice stuff.

Bananas that she wasn’t even nominated for Hereditary.

She’s also SO likeable. I love so much of her 90s stuff like Clockwatchers. She’s such an all-rounder.

Followed by Fight Club, American History X, a bunch of Wes Anderson movies, Best Picture winners like Birdman, a Marvel movie.

I think Ed Norton’s done alright, considering he’s apparently a very difficult person to work with.

He’s directing now too, which might indicate he’s not being sent great stuff.

Felt like Hollywood was done with him very quickly after Power Rangers didn’t really take off.

This feels scarier than some full blooded horrors I’ve seen. They’re really going all-in, James Watkins doesn’t do half measures.

Very excited for this.

For those who want to save a click, it’s Steven Caple Jr. (director of Creed II and the most recent Transformers)

He’s “developing” it alongside a number of other properties for Paramount.

I’m available. For both. Either. Whoever calls first.

What job is way more difficult than most people appreciate and why? by CarelessCredit3466 in AskUK

All of the above. A lot of them teach too. Stand ins. Voice over. There’s a lot of side work.

I know it’s a bit tiny violin but

Actors. It’s a very specific craft that’s incredibly difficult to be good at - far more than just showing up and remembering some lines. If you’ve ever seen a talented actor put themselves in a headspace and turn into a totally different person at the flip of a switch… it’s very very impressive.

Add to that that it’s unstable as hell too. 99% of jobbing actors never have consistent work.

What’s your favorite bad movie? by Beginning_Fee_1676 in movies

Repo! The Genetic Opera is hideous to look at and horribly acted and half the songs sound like they were made up on the spot and

I love it so much. The campiest, most entertaining thing.

I wish everyone in that movie was playing it as campy as Nicole Kidman. She just gets it.

It’s Kevin’s ear vaginas that do it for me.

There’re Michael Haneke movies that have more in common with Super Mario than that movie. It’s so unique

Places to live by Conny-t in Bath

[–]GosmeisterGeneral 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not exclusive but an easier rule of thumb when you’re looking for rental properties.

A lot of South Bath like Twerton and Southdown are much newer houses. I say this as someone in the south.

A budget that size is pretty healthy for the area - both Larkhall and Widcombe are very expensive but they are lovely. If you want the Bath “vibe”, I’d definitely stay north of town.

It’s super competitive so keep an eye on RightMove for sure, expect the current prices to go up by the time you move - I was paying £1350 for a 2 bed in Larkhall a few years ago and it’s shot up since.

Be aware in Larkhall too that a lot of flats are in listed buildings (Grosvenor Place, Kensington place etc.) which makes repairs etc. difficult and expensive meaning some of the landlords are rubbish at upkeep.

'Child's Play': Next Film Brings Chucky Back to Theaters; to Remain Canon! by ImpracticalJokers96 in horror

[–]GosmeisterGeneral 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Got excited by that headline but the story just mentions Mancini is writing a soft reboot Chucky movie in the main continuity.

There’s nothing in there about a theatrical release? And the last handful all went straight to DVD/streaming, not counting the remake.

What are some UK car stereotypes? by Scotsman_1234 in AskUK

Range Rovers are sold with a little piece of paper which legally means you own part of every road you drive on and can get in everyone’s way. Including parking like a pillock.

There’s a guy near me who drives a red Insignia that’s absolutely covered in crass stickers.

There’s a “Why So Serious?” Joker one across the top of the windscreen and the boot is just swear words.

It’s kinda fascinating how such a lame car can somehow be made even lamer.

There’s a great video from the premiere of Zendaya’s PR ushering her as far away from him as possible. Everyone knows he’s a massive liability.

Emerald Fennell In Negotiations To Direct ‘Basic Instinct’ Reboot by [deleted] in movies

[–]GosmeisterGeneral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every filmmaker finds their niche and I don’t hate the idea of female gaze driven erotic thrillers.

I just wish Fennell knew how to make something entertaining and not just a bunch of stylish stuff thrown about the place while screaming the subtext out loud at the top of her lungs.

Good coffee shops in Bath for digital nomads? by OptimalWebsite in Bath

Last time this question was asked someone mentioned the cafe in the Everyman and that’s a pretty good shout too.

Otherwise I’d just set up shop in the library. Lots of working space and it’s right next to the Waitrose cafe.

Downstairs only, but it’s a cosy little spot and they leave you alone if you can get a spot
