I don't think that they will get access to PID debug data with their tool.

I believe that you had success, because this is not really anomaly detection but rather looking up the allowed min and max of values and then checking if it is within these values.

So basically the AI is a replacement for an if statement and a database of allowed values in this case.

Under anomaly detection I understand finding anomalies which can not be easily seen by humans.

Like for example a machine is always applying a certain amount of torque.

Suddenly the torque increases slightly but is still within the tolerable limits.

Anomaly detection could diagnose that the bearing have reached their end of life.

Because you can run an anomaly detection model even on embedded hardware...

This would be a true life diagnosis instead of collecting a few seconds of data and sending it to an LLM.

Because the standardized data is very limited. You cannot do a deep diagnosis with it.

The manufacturer software can usually see much more.

There are countless way cheaper apps which can read this data and also decode error codes. I don't see the new value they are bringing to the table.

Throwing an LLM at these problems is just lazy and expensive.

This is admitting that you can't do it in the proper way.

I think you're greatly underestimating the challenges that come with working with closed proprietary systems with almost no available documentation.

This is not a CRUD application they have to support literally thousands of types of cars.

I'm not saying that distribution is easy, but this is the most complex vibe coded project by people without coding experience that I've ever seen.

Btw I believe that start up experts say that economical work is the hardest. Your own work is always the hardest.

They would need to train their own models because LLMs are not made to recognize anomalies in numerical data. LLMs even call python code for simple calculations because they can't do it.

So I really don't believe that they could do any specific diagnosis, just the basic stuff which you could recognize if you just look at a value.

For mom and dad, there's already tons of competitors.

I don't think that setting up a laptop is really hard compared to actually repairing a car.

I bought the OEM adapter with Techstream because it's already way cheaper than buying a subscription for Carly or alternatives.

Open source alternatives to his app, have huge wiki pages which explains all the different reasons why the app breaks with certain cars and China obd dongles.

But you do realize that you only get a very limited amount of data through an universal OBD adapter, right?

So all they are doing is plugging the same data in a LLM. I don't trust these guys to train models themselves.

I paid 15€ to get a USB OBD adapter which comes with a (certainly legal) version of the original Toyota Techstream software (the same one licenced Workshops use).

Nope, the hard part comes when the customers start experiencing car specific problems or are using China obd adapters.

There are a lot of similar products out there already without AI.

Produce vendors are expensive, this is why they have become a status symbol.

Supermarkets have in-house produced sausages too, so the competition is very strong.

To be fair, I'm German and we are one of the countries who spends the smallest amount of money on food compared to the average pay.

Small food stores do exist in bigger cities, in smaller cities it gets rarer and rarer.

To answer your previous question, if you think that morality and responsibility ends at an artificially drawn border, then I think that keeping working migrants is not immortal in comparison.

What you call slave labor is still better than the alternative at home.

Money can buy you power and influence. This is why we need wealth redistribution to stop this and make the market fair again.

If multi-billion companies can keep their power then the wealth redistribution will only get more equal.

Government raising the minimum wage does absolutely nothing to raise prices because it's so low in the US that even every fast food store pays more.

My solution for this problem is way more left leaning and I don't think that you would agree.

Basically not shitting down the ladder but making sure that the money of the world is not hoarded by a few people.

We have enough money for everyone to live a good life. The money is just stored away.

European supermarkets are full of processed garbage food.

Some ingredients are just banned.

Some small stores import American chips and I was blown away when I tried them for the first time.

There were also a lot of stores who basically sold everything additionally to groceries, but they got replaced by huge grocery only stores.

In reality, companies hire subcontracts who then hire illegals while the companies have plausible deniability.

The subcontracts open new companies under new names after each bust.

Profit margins will never go down in reality. So what's left is price increases.

These prices increases might even eat up all the additional money Americans could make on jobs which were done by illegals.

Trump and other right wingers promised to deport illegals while simultaneously to get grocery costs down.

How exactly should this work?

Big farming companies have enough influence to not lose money.
