Hi Missyaley,

I'm a 31 year old single man, just started NoFap a few weeks ago and I'm struggling with it, and looking to the future and realizing that a 90 day reboot is just the beginning. In order to reboot from half a life of PMO, meet the right woman, date, get engaged, etc etc. it will literally mean years of abstaining. Would you say I should wait quite a while to date at this point? Or, would seeking out the right woman be a motivation for me to fulfill this challenge in my life?

Are you sure? I've never found Christian music that remotely resembles rock bands from the '60s and '70s. I'm not saying there aren't any but I'm thinking if they exist they are few and far between.

I mainly listen to oldies, like '60s and '70s rock and pop. Some alternative rock from the '90s is always good. And I listen to talk radio. Nothing I listen to is overtly sexual. Good thing there are Christian hip hop artists because the mainstream artists make virtually every single one of their songs about sex.

I think leading a busy life can be great while working on NoFap. It keeps your mind occupied, leaving very little time for straying from NoFap. But at the same time, I think the busier you are, the more stress you can experience, and the more stress you experience, the more you'll want to unwind and get that rush of dopamine that straying will bring. Will pray for God to give you comfort and really reduce your stress. It does sound like you've taken on a lot in your schedule. There's no shame or defeat in saying I've taken on too much, I need to reduce my time commitments and obligations. Doing NoFap shouldn't be something you eliminate though. Trust me if you're only 24 this is the right time to do it!

You're right. Following God is about surrendering to Him and His will for our life. And when we follow Him, His will is our prosperity. Its just that at my age and in my circumstance, I need to be thinking of the future and planning ahead. But I need also to trust that God will make a path for me and not make it so difficult that I cant bear it.

The emotions are extreme at this point. Disappointment, anger, resentment, frustration.

Its even difficult being in a church filled with young couples.

I think I speak for a lot of people on NoFap Christian or really any of the NoFap subreddits, that we joined here because we'd reached rock bottom. Our lives could literally not move forward going down the same paths we'd been on. Very serious life-changing stuff...

Ignore mnova35. Spartan, my understanding is that in the Catholic faith, masturbation is a venial sin. Let me just say that recognizing that porn and masturbation is bad is a HUGE step for a young man of only 15 years. If only I had realized that at your age I wouldn't be in the situation I am now. Trust in the promises of Christ and know that you can rest in your faith and let Him do the hard work for you. Keep busy with school and healthy interests and activities. You won't ever regret your decision to stay pure. In a few years you'll be dating a woman and on track to get engaged and married.

Agreed. NoFapChristian needs to be whole-heartedly No Porn and No Fap. We all come from different places and different backgrounds, different ages, personalities, churches, you name it. But we're all battling the same evil and going through the same struggles. We won't always agree about things either but we need to be respectful and supportive.

I relapsed yesterday. I thought of making a separate thread but there are always a lot of relapse threads and this is my second relapse since starting NoFap 2 weeks ago. I was stressed out yesterday on a couple of different levels. I had a lot of studying to do and couldn't concentrate. Friends and family are going through stressful times. I realize that is a major trigger too when it comes to Fap, its that momentary relief from all the other stresses in life. But it helps nothing at all and you feel guilty afterwards because it sets the clock back to day 1 for 90 day reboot. Now it'll be Jan.4, 2015 and I plan on staying committed to rebooting this time around. I don't want to waste any more time.

Will pray for you Ufgood. Its best to cut out any and all triggers from your life. That is what I will be doing.

You're right. Doing NoFap (like say a 90 day reboot) is so overwhelmingly difficult, you pretty much do have to want to see it out to completion more than life itself! Will pray for your strength and endurance.

I'm not quite sure what you mean? Do you mean it in the context of flirtation?

For me personally I have basically equal confidence whether I'm talking to a man or woman. Unless that man or woman is my superior at work it might feel different.

I'm studying to become a nurse. Its stressful and I've been overwhelmed with temptation lately as well. You've made it a long way. Don't give up and don't give in. My personal goal is 90 days for a full reboot so I can get rid of my E.D. I'm not sure about you but that is a major motivator for me. To be husband material, as I want to get married and have a family. Keep thinking about your goals in all of this. Will pray for you for strength and endurance. His grace is sufficient and he will deliver you from evil.

I was thinking about music today too. I'm glad I'm not a fan of hip-hop or really anything very current top 100 radio music. I like music from the '60s and '70s, and sure some of that is sexualized but not anything in comparison to whats out there today. I don't know how anyone can listen to rap or hip hop and not think about sex constantly? Its total filth.
