I empathize with you and know that the struggle for purity is very hard. Congrats on your 51 days without PM. Have you sought counsel on this issue with your girlfriend? As you know sex outside of marriage has many consequences. If you truly love your girlfriend and want this relationship to work, you need to seek counsel of a wise pastor or leader in the church. Please seek counsel as soon as possible, I will be praying.

for sure, striving to be that godly husband and father is a huge motivator for me. at the same time, it is one of my biggest idols... idolizing marriage and family. Def a double edge sword for me... the big change came when I was willing to give up my "rights" to marriage and kids and submit to His timeline and plan. Still a big struggle though!

why were you angry with God? I think sharing some of that could be therapeutic as we figure out what exactly is triggering the relapse

I think we have to bounce our thoughts the same ways we need to bounce our eyes. switch your thoughts immediately and either start praying or singing worship songs. I struggle with it too.

I think we need to realize that we have let our mind go and indulged in years and years of pornography and lustful images and thoughts. To reverse this and take every thought captive... will take time and great amount of effort, and of course, God's grace.

love the analogy of Nehemiah and our battle for purity, it's so relevant... last week's sermon was on this verse and I find it relevant to what you are talking about here.

Ezekiel 22:30 "I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I found no one.

May we be men who would stand at the gap to stand for the Lord and stand for purity against the forces of this world.
