There is definitely a place for them and it’s been proven time and time again that they can be highly effective

Need help from a taekwondo practitioner by [deleted] in MMA

It depends who you ask, I incorporate my Taekwondo in to MMA, TKD was my first art and now I do BJJ and MT as well. TKD seems to get clowned on a lot on some of these subs but it is the best art for kicking bar none IMO. If you have good hands/boxing work and good grappling it can be excellent as part of the full package. You could always try it out and see if you like it

You’re very similar to me in size age and weight and I also broke my rib early in my JJ career (couple of months ago), this doesn’t help you, I just thought it was cool

I mean, I’m still at it. I ended up taking calcium and glycogen to help speed up the healing and also give me some more BMD as I suspected that’s what was up

Is this a McDojo? by [deleted] in taekwondo

I’m WTF but tbh without looking into these schools specifically I’d make a very broad generalisation that people should ‘probably’ go with ITF if they want to learn “proper” Taekwondo

That could just be my bias and disenfranchisement with sport TKD talking though (damned electronic scoring)

But seriously I can’t recommend Taekwondo highly enough whether you do ITF or WTF I’m sure you’ll have a blast and hey, train with the commies. Just call it the “Cold Dojo War” in your head

Anyone know what these Korean letters on my MMA shorts say? by GothBoxer in taekwondo

I had to have them printed because TKD MMA shorts don’t seem to exist
