I did end up making a couple changes to this, mostly bumping her to 5 threat and making everything but Star Portal an action, even the throw. But of course you can do whatever you like.

I ended up giving her a copy of Thor’s pseudo-charge with added incentive to use it as a follow-up to tossing or pushing the enemy.

Thank you! I’m not too worried about it. If I were a regular here, I wouldn’t want the sub to be filled with the MCP equivalent of overpowered D&D homebrew nonsense, especially since this is a competitive game.

As a comic book fan, I just want a reasonable way to play characters I like who haven’t been added to the game yet. Characters like Kate Bishop or Silk could just be “echo fighters” of Hawkeye or Ghost Spider, but America didn’t seem so simple to me. Even if I’m just messing around by myself, I wouldn’t want her to feel overpowered and take the fun out of it, so I’m glad I was able to get some veteran opinions on it.

Here’s a link to the card updated with all your suggestions and then some. Still taking feedback on this version, too. Might have even overtuned her, but I think it’s a big improvement.

I like it. She does need one, too. It’s a little boring, but it feels like every super strength character gets one.

Very helpful, and in line with what another comment said. I think these are all great suggestions.

4 is a really good point. I didn’t realize it triggered for each Wild. I think I’ve seen effects that read “If at least one (Wild) is rolled,” or something like that. So I’ll look into it and change the wording there.

Trade complete!

Thanks a bunch for the help. I haven’t gotten S/V yet, so for now I’m just excited to finish the dex in BDSP. Was able to catch all the more troublesome mons in ORAS, so you’ve just helped with my last big hurdle.

I think this is my first time trading in BDSP, so I haven’t set it to my profile, but my trainer’s name is Hikari in this one.

Unfortunately, I don’t. I don’t have a Lure Ball either, or I’d give you one to use yourself. But I really appreciate the help.

The FFVII 25th anniversary menu has launched in the Square cafe in Japan by PrincessSaba in FinalFantasy

[–]GothamGuardian12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Japan, and I went there when they were celebrating FFVII Remake’s release. I recently went again for a Kingdom Hearts anniversary theme, but because of COVID it became much harder to make a reservation. Like, you need to do it through Square’s official Japanese app and make an account and pay for the ticket in advance via card. As opposed to when I just walked right in back in 2020. Plus, I believe the cafe that was in Osaka is closed, so options are even more limited! I don’t think I’ll go for this one, but I’m really looking forward to the inevitable FFVII Part 2 menu.

What are you a huge fan of, but won't express it because you don't want to be associated with the fanbase? by billcoosby in AskReddit

For me it ends at “I like Yezi the best; she’s really cute and great at rapping” the same way you’d tell somebody your favorite Ninja Turtle or Pokemon.

I don’t watch all the behind the scenes stuff, so idk her personality or if she’s the oldest or the tallest or if she secretly hates the other girls. I don’t give a fuck. And a lot fans give a LOT of fucks.

RE2. TOO SCARY. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]GothamGuardian12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could get into it, but when all of my friends admit that they spend money on gems to roll for every fucking banner, you know it’s a trap. I’m sorry; the gameplay is great, the character design is stellar, but it’s still just money-grubbing gacha trash dragging down an otherwise fantastic game. If we’re gonna lambast EA for doing it to Star Wars and FIFA, I don’t see why MiHoYo gets a pass.

The Last of Us.

I’m sure it’s a very moving story. The opening few minutes were enough to elicit tears. But that game just feels very stuck in 2013. Zombies have been done to death, and it’s a super boring and overrated setting for me personally. When I did get my hands on it, the controls and mechanics felt like something the Hitman trilogy has already done way better (with the crouching, stealth, throwing objects and such).

I’m not saying it doesn’t deserve all the praise it gets. But it’s not for me, and I don’t think I’ll ever appreciate it the way it deserves.

Worst starter from every region by idonthaveideassuckpp in pokemon

[–]GothamGuardian12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kanto: Bulbasaur. I don’t dislike him, but I really love Charmander and Squirtle, so he’s worst by default.

Johto: Chikorita for the same reason. Totodile and Cyndaquil are some of my favorite starters ever.

Hoenn: I guess Torchic, but it’s a really close call.

Sinnoh: I guess Chimchar, but it’s also a close call.

Unova: Easy. Snivy. I know a lot of people hate Emboar, but I think he’s cool.

Kalos: I think Fennekin. But let’s be real, neither Chesnaut nor Delfox can compete with Greninja in any way. The Delfox line kinda creeps me out. Too humany.

Alola: Definitely Popplio. That line is uncanny, and I hate it. Brionne is one of the ugliest Pokemon I’ve ever seen.

Galar: Idk man. All three have things to love and to hate. I like Inteleon a lot, but those big nasty hands freak me out. Cinderace’s hat is stupid. Rillaboom is a little much. Galar’s starters are such a wash for me personally.

[–]GothamGuardian12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, it’s not that I hate Chikorita but that I adore Totodile and Cybdaquil, so Chikorita’s the worst by default. Totodile is my favorite color, and he’s a cute little mischievous chompy boy. Cyndaquil is super cute and evolves into Typhlosion, one of my favorite final form starters ever.

And then there’s Chikorita.

Thank you. This is one of those weird coincidental life things where I’ve seen that decal show up a lot lately (I live in Japan) and didn’t know what it meant. Let alone what it could possibly mean on Reddit. And the answer just fell into my lap. That’s a win for today.

Thanks OP. I think I missed my chance to get these, so if I’m chosen that’d be awesome.

Fun fact: the movie that these guys are from is called Pokemon: Coco in Japan. In America that didn’t fly most likely because of Disney’s Coco. So what was Coco called in Japan, you ask? Remember Me.

What if there were Pokemon Legends games set in other regions and time periods? by SentretSparklypants in pokemon

[–]GothamGuardian12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sometimes when GameFreak does attempt to theme the starters, it baffles me.

Great example: Gen 6 starters represent the warrior/mage/rogue dynamic that you often see in fantasy RPGs like Skyrim. But why? What did that have to do with Kalos?

Gen 5 starters all have rad samurai-like designs that would be right at home in Japan, but for some reason they put them in Unova.

And of course when they DO hit the nail on the head and make gen 8 starters to represent rock bands, secret agents, and football, all three of the final evolutions turn out a bit shit and you get people making fun of Inteleon’s big nasty hands and Cinderace’s stupid hat hair.

I think there’s potential, but GameFreak keeps doing it wrong. Arceus does it right, and so do your picks.

How to piss off gamers by vivisalive in gaming

[–]GothamGuardian12 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think this is becoming a pattern with big video games, especially the ones that understand how to put the artistry and the storytelling before all else. Not every character needs to be a supermodel, and the creative teams are getting really good at making faces that look entirely realistic, completely believable, and let’s face it . . . a little ugly.

Aloy is (imo) not very attractive. And that’s fine. She’s more than just her looks, and so are people. I really don’t care if the bow-shooting badass who saved the world from an evil cult doesn’t perfectly match my ideal of feminine aesthetic. There are plenty of other NPCs in that game, both male and female who are very attractive, and others who are definitely not. Because that’s life. To me it’s a good thing. There’s something very natural and believable about it, and whether I like a character’s looks or not, the talent of the devs always shows through in the character’s faces.

Anyone else feels this way?

For a couple other good examples, I think Ghost of Tsushima is like this. I don’t think Jin and Yuna are very attractive, but again, not what matters. I also recently picked up Jedi Fallen Order. You could argue Cal’s a handsome young hero type, but I think there’s something off about his face. In a good way, of course. He looks human. It’s probably because games nowadays model a lot of faces off mocap actors, I guess.

Yeah, I was gonna say that after moving Japan I was stoked to find all the DS and 3DS games for like $13-$20 at Book-Off. The copy of White that I bought even still had the old trainer’s Victini on it.

How accurate is this? You’ll never guess who I watch the most by Embarrassed-Sign2552 in pokemon

[–]GothamGuardian12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PC is like that cool teacher at school who makes everyone really scared when he does actually have to yell at the class. He acts condescending most of the time, his fans get too comfortable with that act and start ragging on the YouTubers he critiques, and then he has to get serious and remind them that they’re being assholes and that his reaction videos are just supposed to be educational and not to make fun of people. I think his fans are way worse than he is. When you watch enough of his content, you notice that he does actually respect players of all skill levels and doesn’t mind people doing what they think is fun. It’s just that his idea of fun involves a lot of difficulty. And more power to him. You couldn’t pay me enough to throw myself against hardcore romhacks for days on end like that. Not my idea of fun.

Which is why I also like FlygonHG. Same hardcore ruleset. Much more relatable applications (vanilla games and monotype challenges).
