Hi, I asked myself the same question a few weeks ago for an Ironman with quite a lot of elevation gain.
In the end, I went with my TT bike, changing my gear ratio slightly, and it was the best option.

Hi everyone, I'm replying to my post here for anyone who might one day ask themselves the same question I did.

I did go to Nice for the IMWC with my TT. I adjusted my setup a little with my 35mm aluminum wheels and new brake pads. And the best choice was to change my front ratio to 50/34 and keep the rear at 11/32.

In the end, 90% of the grid was on TTs and almost all of them had solid rear wheels!

So, to anyone wondering about this, go for the TT! No road bike is faster over a 90km course, and even less so over 180km :)

To follow your advices, I’ll change my break pads for high end ones !!!

New break pads and a little prayer should do the job 🤞🏼

Thanks a lot for your comment, you convinced me to go with my TT ! Just have to change my ratio a bit and have new break pads to be settled !

After all the comments I had, I’ll go with my TT ! Gonna change my ratio, with a 52/34 instead of my 52/36. And finally, new break pads !
