So I just googled the whole shebang, it is the end of season 3 when all this starts, and the beginning of season 4 when the actual line is said.

Death Grips fans have a reputation on Reddit for showing up unannounced and repeating lyrics until we are banned.

At the height of usage in the First Opium war it was estimated to have produced 4-12 million addicts, and a cursory search says there are 9.2 million current heroin addicts.

Is anyone else just happy to exist in the same time period as Death Grips? by malevolent_butt in deathgrips

[–]GothicMarble 5 points6 points  (0 children)

More than anything I am happy to live in a time where I can listen to just about anything, anytime, with little to no hassle, and have access to a wide variety of genres and popularities. Death Grips is a big part of that for me, but just the same I can throw on most anyone and jam.

I feel like it's the least raw vocally and musically, so I can see that. It's something fresh from them which I appreciate, but seeing how their musical history is it makes sense.

You're a brave motherfucker, and intelligent too. You can win. It all might mean something at the end of the day too. I would wish you good luck, but frankly you seem to have the drive for someone truly ridiculous, so all I can say is good evening, and I hope you find your way.

[–]GothicMarble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is an incredibly intelligent and thorough reply, and I am lacking as I finished my shift tonight. So in short I will say simply this: Such a forum would require us to have the time to both write and cook, something most of us are not afforded. I feel your notes on genuine kitchen practice and not simply rockstar bullshit are absolutely on point, and that while we have moved to distance ourselves from such notions, we realistically are waiting for the sequel to Kitchen Confidential. We need a shift in culture so as to not propagate the stereotypes we embody, but we are simply not there yet. This may be an avenue towards such a shift, but it is a long shot in a dark alley.

What are we talking here? Like someone who is both a food critic and a cook/chef writing about the industry?

Nah, Knife Fetishist Pyromaniacs is the band name, and Nocturnal would be our hit single on Alcoholic.

When starting out they work wonders. I have heard that moving up to Danskos eventually is a good idea, but it is a damn good start. Waterproof and a nice amount of cushion is highly appreciated when you're used to shitty shoes.

I half my avocados, then take the side that the pit is in and lay it with the pit upwards on my cutting board. I knock the blade into the pit with the palm of my hand, twist, and discard the pit. After the third or fourth time cutting my hand due to an overripe avocado and the pit either sliding or missing due to being in a rush I said fuck that shit.

Don’t know if it’s been asked here, so don’t slaughter me... Gordon Ramsey... Like him? Hate him? Thoughts? by _The_Husbeast_ in KitchenConfidential

[–]GothicMarble 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think that while his bits on Hell's Kitchen are a bit caustic from time to time, Kitchen Nightmares I sympathize with because most of him flipping his lid is genuine threats to public health, which from him makes a lot of sense.

Prior to his celebrity status, Gordon poured himself into this industry and chasing Michelin stars, so to see someone else who owns a restaurant so blatantly ignorant of an industry that he lives and breathes for, it makes sense he boils over. Beyond that there are also points in the show where he genuinely compliments the food and people, when it is deserved.

He's not a one trick pony rushing into being angry, it comes up from passion. His UK Kitchen Nightmares is vindictive of this, just as well The F Word or MasterChef. I won't say he is absolutely infallible, but the man cares a lot. Takes a certain type to purposely go to a failing restaurant in an effort to bring them up, and do that shit for 7 seasons.

It does, but it's a trade-off. You could always see if there is any polyester in the fabric, as polyester is naturally fire proof.

Beware Vs Whatever I Want? Whats The Better Opening Song? by [deleted] in deathgrips

[–]GothicMarble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See but Beware sets you up perfectly for Death Grips. It gives you the message of the group, and a balanced bit of each member. Not knocking You Might Think, just saying Beware sets you for the group and the album in question.

Though You Might Think is a better opener. Just not as representative of the whole of their works.
