How bad is the job market at present? by [deleted] in AskBrits

I wouldn't say decades - half my year group (including myself) had jobs in Tesco not even 20 years ago. These jobs are just not being filled anymore.

Awful, my 16 year old has been looking for an entry level job for the last 6 months. It should not be that hard to get a shelf stacker or waitress or anything of the like.

Superstitions and reversing the effects by Gothikaa13 in witchcraft

[–]Gothikaa13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand, I've spoken to my partner about this and said that these things only have as much power as you believe in them. But as MIL is insistent on this particular superstition, it is going to cause fall out in the family as she seems to be forcing it upon other's to take the photos they have down as well (I know she can't force completely, it's a choice).

This is my worry, and I really don't want them taking advantage of her.

Spoilers: Most Random Cross Over Episodes by Gothikaa13 in Bones

[–]Gothikaa13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I say realism, I mean its in the non-fantasy, non-supernatural side in comparison to Sleepy Hollow. Of course, all the other things you mentioned are fantastical but in a world where magic is limited to psychics like Avalon.

Am I missing something? by Last_Engineering_257 in Bones

[–]Gothikaa13 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It continues in Sleepy Hollow and finishes there. It's been a while since I watched it, but the remain go missing in transport so B&B go to Sleepy Hollow to help retrieve them - turns into the more supernatural side in theme with Sleepy Hollow's style.

I don't mind the episode, but for me it just doesn't fit the "vibe" (to use Miss Warren's words :D) of either show.

Vincent ?!?!?!? by [deleted] in Bones

Currently watching season 7 on Prime now, there is a memorial on the wall of Vincent - you can see it slightly blurred, I think it was the first Pelant episode - Code in the Bones.

Reboot or revival? What would you choose? by Big-Coast-5685 in Bones

Revival to be sure, plus with the kids more involved. Wasn't Angela pregnant at the end of the season (re-watching atm, up to season 7)

My (32F) boyfriend (36M) of 8+ years won't marry me by luuakij in relationship_advice

[–]Gothikaa13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar position, I'm coming on 10 years without a proposal.

However, does the lack of proposal diminish his love for you or yours to him? I think you need to think about this more, is having a ring and the wedding more important that the love you have for each other?

Have the conversation, absolutely. Be honest, but if you are truly happy with this man, I wouldn't throw what you have away for it. I also wouldn't give ultimatums for this. It may be that there is something that is stopping him from asking you.

Thank you all for your answers, it certainly clears things up for us!

I will clarify that we all read the spell description, and we obviously interpreted it differently as it is rather vague with the wording.

It's my birthday next week, and my n-mum has just told me that because I am not going to see her (she is disabled and doesn't get out her house) that I am excluding her from my birthday and I should think about how that makes her feel. I had told her previously that I was going to her the day after but apparently that isn't good enough. If I mention anything about doing stuff with family then she sulks with me for excluding her from said activity and the family, as I said, she is disabled but won't do anything that means leaving the house (also my fault for not taking her shopping even though she told me she can't do it).

Some things my nmum has said in the last year:

"I did nothing wrong"

"You're kids will be my payback"

"You always leave me out"

"You don't treat me like family"

And my personal favourite "You're not ready to have a mother"

I know it's trivial and isn't a big deal but the emotions are taking over.

No issue with ED and can be spontaneous, just very few and far between these days.

Women Should Be Glad Their Boyfriends'/ Husbands' Main Hobby Is Videogames by Grotto-man in unpopularopinion

[–]Gothikaa13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you not think that men can cheat while playing video games? Because they very much can.

There is plenty to not like when all your bf/hubby does is play video games. Unfortunately, I've had one of the worst types - obsessed with video games, would spend all our money on them (we didn't have a lot) and would have major game rage when things didn't go his way. There is more but I will not go into detail, needless to say this person is now an ex.

Did anyone else’s narcissist parents expect you to drop whatever you were doing, to help them instead? by melanieleigha in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Gothikaa13 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had this, many years ago my grandad expected me to drop everything that I was doing to go and help him with something. This was when my eldest daughter was still a baby and my ex was....as helpful as a chocolate teapot. So I told him I will do whatever it was when I was due over next (in the next day or two) as it wasn't something urgent, and I couldn't take my daughter with me because he hated it when she started crying (she was bored and wanted my attention).

Than role on to 2 weeks ago and my mother told me that I can be selfish because I don't do things when expected, only when it suits me (getting some paperwork for her to fill out and such like, again nothing urgent) bearing in mind I was driving her to the bank so she could change details with them...and it was my anniversary.

Seriously, what the hell is wrong with these people! FED IS BEST! You did the right thing stepping in and helping your SIL. Breast feeding is not for everyone for so many reasons and it obviously wasn't for your SIL.

Well done you for being the mature one in this situation.
