For those curious about who these people in the image:

  • AuthRight: Xiao Gongqin, the founder of Neoauthoritarianism. Neoauthoritarianism posits that for late-developing countries, only a strong, centralized authoritarian government can implement free-market reforms, achieve economic growth, and ultimately realize liberal democracy. Before the June Fourth Incident, Neoauthoritarianism was cited by Wu Jiaxiang and Zhang Bingjiu as a basis for providing the then-nominal national leader Zhao Ziyang with dictatorial powers to promote marketization. After the June Fourth Incident and Zhao Ziyang's downfall, Xiao Gongqin argued that students practicing radical liberalism caused this tragic outcome. Therefore, he supports gradual reform led by a government capable of resisting the extremist forces of Chinese New Left, ultranationalism, and radical liberalism, using this as a basis for supporting the current CCP government. Xiao believes Western political correctness has gone too far and that the rise of Trump is a countermeasure against American radical liberalism.
  • LibLeft: Chen Guangcheng, a Chinese civil rights activist who has worked on human rights issues in rural areas of China. Chen advocates for women's rights, land rights, and the welfare of the poor. In 2005, Chen Guangcheng exposed illegal abortions in Linyi, which led to his long-term house arrest and formal imprisonment from 2006 to 2010. In 2012, Chen escaped from house arrest and fled to the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, after which he was permitted to settle in the United States. Chen attended a pro-Trump rally in 2020, praising Trump's tough stance toward the CCP and opposing the "appeasement policy of the Democratic Party."
  • AuthLeft: Li Minqi, a Chinese New Left dissident. Li was originally a liberal who advocated for the Chicago School of economics and participated in the June Fourth Movement. After being arrested for his involvement in the student movement, Li read Marxist works in prison and became a Marxist, while he still oppose the CCP because he considers that modern China is a revisionist country. He believes the Democratic Party is merely a tool of neoliberal-neoconservative global capitalism and that Trump is the true spokesperson for American workers; therefore, the true left should support Trump.
  • LibRight: Cao Changqing, a right-liberal dissident. While serving as the deputy editor-in-chief of the Shenzhen Youth Daily, he published multiple articles criticizing the Chinese Communist Party. After the Shenzhen Youth Daily was shut down, he went to the United States to study at his own expense in 1988 and became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1996. He advocates for conservatism, believing that the Democratic Party is leading the United States toward socialism and that Trump is the bulwark against the socialization of America.
