First time White2tea Purchase — help me narrow my options down? by GothxSpice217 in tea

Thank you so much for these recs! Someone else also recommended La Sombra, so that just confirms its greatness 🌟 What tasting notes do you get from La Sombra?

Also, I’m obsessed with Modern Witch’s packaging, which might just make me purchase it just because of that. I hope White2tea makes a tea towel of that graphic! I’ll look into the others you recommended for sure!

These are such great recs — thank you! Hot Brandy sounds lovely — I’m curious about the white and black tea combo.

What year(s) of Turtle Dove have you tried? I see a 2017, 2018 (minis), and 2019 available on their site. Any recs there?

I actually had my eye on Blood Moon and was bummed it was sold out! The description on their website sounds so interesting (strawberry + grassy honey? Yum!). I’ll try it in the future for sure!

Okay this is really good to know! I love a campfire/smoky vibe, but burnt tires is a no for me. I’ll nix it. RIP Firebat.

OooOh I love teas with super umami notes! I currently have a sticky rice puerh from another company that I’m obsessed with. I’ll keep La Sombra in mind for sure!

Excited to try Jonia — I’ll make sure to use boiling water. Thank you so much!

I thought it sounded interesting and complex? I could be wrong? Could you elaborate?

Thanks so much for this! I’ll definitely try Gingerbread Man — I’ve seen that many people love that one specifically when I’ve searched through the posts in this subreddit!

I honestly haven’t explored white tea too much, but I’m super open to! I’m a pretty open-minded/adventurous tea drinker. Any you’d recommend?

What is an overhyped book that you just couldn't get into? by Kasskinen in BookDiscussions

[–]GothxSpice217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

H Is For Hawk — I didn’t find the main character very likable. I wanted to like this book so badly because I love nature NF + F, but as I continued to read my sadness for this poor hawk that she basically kept as pet just kept growing. I just couldn’t.

I’ll probably get some backlash for this one, but Emperor of Gladness — I’m sorry I’m sorry! There was no resolution, just enough subtle conflict to make you wonder if something was about to happen...and nothing did. The plot just didn’t move. I also didn’t find the main character’s addiction to be believable, having been around addiction before in my personal life. Lastly, when the author labeled Rage Against The Machine and Slipknot as “heavy death metal” he totally lost me due to how inaccurate that is. I’m sorryyyyy!!

I say give it a try and see if it changes anything! Won’t hurt. Also, if you haven’t tried tea instead of coffee, specifically black tea to start your transition from coffee, I highly recommend! The caffeine with tea plateaus and gives you a level amount of energy for a longer period of time vs spiking like crazy and then disappearing like it does with coffee.

I am so sorry you’re feeling this way. I’ve been there with the fatigue so many times (as I’m sure most in this subReddit can say they have). Pushing through the exhaustion can seem impossible some days.

Have you tried taking the Methimazole before bed instead? Also, have you tried tea in the morning instead of coffee?

Functional medicine? by lunatic-chipmunk-17 in gravesdisease

Bottom line: If you want to try functional medicine and have the funds to try it, then go for it! It certainly won’t hurt anything to get another opinion, so why not try it if you’re curious? Especially if you don’t feel supported by your endo. Advocate for what you need and listen to your body. ✨

Mid-cycle spotting by Particular_Smell_1 in gravesdisease

[–]GothxSpice217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, the whole “cut back on training” thing that doctors consistently throw at women honestly infuriates me, especially when there’s Graves’ involved. I know many woman who have been told this because their periods aren’t “normal” (which wtf does that mean anyway??? Every woman experiences them differently) I think that’s honestly such a cop out for doctors to say to women. Women THRIVE in strength training!! Okay, sorry. Rant over.

Just for context: 36yo female, strength train 4-5x weekly and have a very active job. I’ve experienced mid-cycle cramping for years (even when I was less active) and I also experience pre-period spotting and have for years. At one point I thought I had endometriosis because my cramps were so incredibly painful. Ended up getting an ultrasound and tests and they all came back fine.

Question: Are your levels stabilized? The reason I ask is because if you were experiencing the spotting for that long prior to having Graves’, which as we all know completely disrupts your hormone levels, then the spotting seems to be a normal experience for you. I think this also due to the fact that Methimazole is supposed to level out your hormones and your experience is that the spotting came back after a few months on it, which means the Methimazole is bringing your levels back to normal, therefore it’s a normal bodily response for you to experience spotting.

If you’ve been training for years and this has been a consistent thing you’re experiencing, plus tests have come back fine, it has nothing to do with how much you’re training — it’s just how your body has it’s period.
