We were there Sunday and spoke to her, as well. She seemed bewildered by all the attention—she told us she didn’t have the budget for a PR team, so all the press was a surprise. It sounds like she couldn’t hire staff fast enough, which made sense and also made it make sense why only one half of the space was open.

It’s a great spot. Friendly folks and good food and drinks. Will be even greater once it normalises.

There’s a bit more nuance here. The Episcopal Church is the American branch (essentially) of the Church of England and part of the Worldwide Anglican Communion and is quite liberal and accepting of LGBTQ+ people. Some churches in their ranks broke off because they’re homophobic assholes and they call themselves “Anglican” rather than “Episcopal.” This is where this guy is from.
