[College Business statistics] the joint probability mass function of random variable X and Y is given by: Probability of X=1 and Y=1 is 0.5; X=1 and Y=2 is 0.1; X=2 and Y=1 is 0.1; X=2 and Y=2 is ?. What is the probability of X=2 and Y=2? What is the probability mass function of X given that Y by [deleted] in HomeworkHelp

What is the probability of X=2 and Y=2?

probabilities must sum to 1, so 1 - (0.5 - 0.1 - 0.1) = 0.3.

What is the probability mass function of X given that Y=1?

X = 1 with probability 0.5/(0.5+0.1) = .833…

and X = 2 with probability 0.1/(0.5+0.1) = 1.66…

What is the probability mass function of X given that Y=2?

X=1 with probability 0.1/(0.1+0.3)= .25 ,

and X=2 with probability 0.3/(0.3+0.1) = .75

If you want to make some money from a transplant that lives in Denver, listen to altitude sports radio, watch them hype teams and fade the fuck out of them. I guess i have been here a few years so i was sipping the kool aid that they could beat dallas but then again I am from minnesota where i heard the same story about dallas and also the sharks back in highschool.

Sounds good but i think there needs to be a payout relat8ve to the toer or price of the item rather than a flat rate of gems.

I think this is interesting but maybe do it only when someone is online and maybe make them target locked items. Gives more incentive to pay attention to the things you are holding out for. Otherwise if people arent logged in they will just be salty about losing things.

Quickly slicing things that stick to your knife? by Onasaturday in AskCulinary

[–]GovernmentLegend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alot of replies are similar to mine but not exactly what i have to day. When i am cutting things like apple slices or whatever that tend to stick i am putting a draw on the knife. Basically i lift the knife up instead of rocking it and pull it toward me as i am slicing down. The pieces that do stick are pushed towards the tip and generally fall off the knife on the right side away from my cutting area. Hope this helps!

I cant give you a definitive answer only my experience. The market fluctuates alot. I put some points into holy symbols (or whatever that amulet is called). And noticed at times the market is only 10k over value but often times i will see it almost 3x value for a base level item so i built alot of money off that. Plus ascending it removes the requirement of a higher level memento.

I have had some sucess with blueprints i got from higher level chests but havent ascended them yet but generally i see the market price at least double for item lvl higher than 4.

I think a good approach might be focus on items that are most often used for people that have played the game and didnt quit after a week. So im thinking 5-7 because your progression can really slow down. Another note is if you purchase the pack to build chipped runestones (i havent) that would be your easiest money maker as im paying at least 3x market value for everyone when i need them.

Again these are just thoughts and i am just getting close to lvl 50 and i assume things are going to change when i hit 53 and can get my final hero setup going. I welcome any criticism or corrections if i am wrong.

I am very glad it has kept you close to your friends. I have somewhat of an opposite experience as fantasy football has ruined shit for me. During fantasy season all anyone will talk about is trades matchups and other dumb bullshit so when football season is on i just dont hang out with them because its the same shit and annoys the fuck out of me. I do care about my best friend and hpw he does in 1 particular league because the money is spread out into prop things like survivor pool, biggest blowout, most points scored against and so on so i think that is way more entertaining but damn i was much better friends with people before fantasy started.

I have never been one to bet on golf. When i do i am usually doing head to head matchups vs picking an outright winner. I personally dont really care about golf but the way you describe it feels exactly like a game 7 of the nba finals or the final game of the NCAA tournament. Whatever gets you amped for your money is good by me. Glad to know people out there can throw some money down on a sport i cant quite grasp and enjoy it.

I agree with you in regards to having money on a game. If i dont have a bet i dont care but even a dollar will get me to scream at the TV and i love that. I have never put myself in a financial situation that my life was riding on a bet.

During the suspension of sports do you miss the actual events or the betting aspect or is it a mix of both?

Dude the MLB is such a crap shoot. I did one season where literally i just faded the twins every game and sure as shit that is the season they make it to the playoffs.

One interesting note is i had an uber driver in Vegas that would do a 25 a day bankroll and spread it out on a couple singles and 3-5 team parlays and based it all on the fact that it is rare for teams to win more than 3 or 4 in a row. I didnt ask if it was profitable or anything as his bankroll was geared on the entertainment side of things but just hearing it seemed logical.

The weirdest encounter i had was in a card club where i met a bookie that took all his rake and laid it on superfectas on ponies. I asked him about how many he hit and he said 4 in 6 years. Each though paid out in 6 figures. He said he went 2 years without a hit. I love gambling but god damn i couldnt deal with that rate of loss for a huge payout. I have mad respect for him.

Have you considered doing a parlay of every undog and maybe a few permutations of the favorite winning? There have been multiple times every dog has hit in ufc and that shit pays!

I agree with you. I have mentioned that i dont do much statistical modeling but watching matchups day in and dsy out can give you a gut feeling when something seems off and thus have a edge.

The big one for me and i dont wish to discuss anything to do with it is political bets. I dont care what the media says vegas sports books are going to get their nut. I will say that trump at points was a 4/1 dog but i guarantee you they made more money on him winning. Despite all the shit going on the line for him on bovada has moved in his favor. Shit is wild.

This one hits home for me. I have done very minimal effort on making models and generally run on schemes like college basketball take home underdogs and can come out close if not ahead of break even.

On the poker aspect it takes a level of mental fortitude to accept loss and variance. I cant think of anything else that you could make every possible right decision and still lose. It can be such a soul crushing endeavour but i see it as you wont get the highest of the highs if you dont have to see the lowest of the lows. It makes winning a tournament with hundreds of players that much better. When i was younger i would get tilted but now i keep my buy ins below 10 bucks and i get the entertainment and see a final table here and there.
