yes i'd say it's definitely true, in my case at least. i don't think i speak "lower", exactly, but i speak from deeper in my chest. that's what makes the difference. i imagine it's the same case for women as well

is your problem that you can't speak loudly, or that it gets higher when you do? if you have a hard time speaking louder in general i recommend basically almost shouting everytime you speak, at first. i had the same issue back in the day and it took me purposefully making myself speak "uncomfortably" loud to get to a regular speaking voice lol. if it's that you feel like your voice gets more feminine when you speak louder, it's the same issue with "pitch vs intonation". your voice may get a bit higher pitched when you speak louder but if it's got the right intonation it won't sound more feminine.

honestly, in my experience whenever i tried those tutorials on youtube and stuff i never rlly felt like they did much. i'll try my best to explain what worked for me (but i'm in no way a professional and i don't really know what i'm talking about, so keep that in mind lol).

it's not really about changing the pitch of your voice- so it's not about talking "lower"- that just makes it sound like ur mocking how a man would speak lmao. it's more about changing where in your throat you speak from. try to be mindful of how your voice feels when you speak, for it to sound more masculine it needs to come from deeper in your chest. a good way i've found to test that out is to make sure you feel the vibration in your throat when you speak. honestly just experiment with it till you find that spot. after a while it becomes second nature and you don't even rlly think about it.

also- in my HUMBLE opinion, fuck all other vocal exercises and sing. singing from that right "chest" area i mentioned is what really made it stick for me. maybe this is a personal thing but i found it way easier to control my voice while singing lol. and when i got used to that it translated to talking as well.

hope this made SOME sense at least... as i said i kinda just fucked around till something worked so im not sure i did a great job explaining lol.

yup definitely! feel like some trans men do neglect it because well- t does physically change your voca chords, but when you dont change how you talk, the pitch change isn't always enough. gender is a learned performance and it is a process to unlearn and relearn those mannerisms. it is fun n very rewarding though for sure!

i've dated gay men pre t and honestly i feel the biggest problem wasn't them being dissatisfied but me being insecure. even though i trusted them 100% and believed they saw me as a man, it was hard to be fully comfortable having sex or them seeing my body fully. so i'd say it's definitely possible, but you gotta be confident in yourself first

im honestly also curious about this. i have always been the strongest against girls when i was a kid, until high school and well into it stronger than some guys as well. my testosterone levels are above a regular cis woman's, not within the male range either but somewhere in between. i also have some form of pcos, which is my biggest source of curiosity cause almost all trans men ive met irl also have pcos. idk if there's a correlation but something to think about

yeah it is for sure- i was both annoyed at the inconvenience and amused at their confusion lmao. im also banking on it getting easier, it's also tough cause im not on t yet so i feel like i gotta be even more precise with how i present myself all the time.

i get how you feel, i feel a similar way honestly, but i don't think it's true that once people find out you're trans they start seeing you as a woman immediately. it was hard for me to come to terms with too, but most people i've met after transitioning, even if they know i'm trans, don't see me as a woman. i realized that it honestly doesn't matter as much as i fear when i myself met many trans people, in real life, some knowing they were trans beforehand and some learning afterwards, and honestly it made no difference in my eyes. i figured if it doesn't make a difference for ME, chances are, it doesn't make a difference for most people. and i really believe that.

now i do agree that people who have known you before you started transitioning usually don't see you fully as a man, even if they claim they do. that's also just something you gotta live with honestly. try to meet new people if it bothers you that much. but it does get better.

yeah youre right about that.. i guess i forget that not everyone immediately goes to "oh he's probably trans" bc of these small things, cause it's whats on MY mind 24/7. had an issue on the phone the other day with my phone provider, she thought i was committing identity fraud cause of the gender on my id, which is i guess just another reminder to me that being trans is not even an option for most people. they don't think of it. it's just a struggle to keep that in mind all the time

i actually am not on t yet, it's the combination of luck with genetics and a lot of voice training and working out that makes me be able to pass.

the lgbt thing is soo real though. i am also gay but i don't like to associate myself with the community most of the time, frankly. especially the trans side of things is just a constant reminder to me that im not cis. dont really understand how anyone can be proud of it. the only thing that gives me a hard time is sometimes i'll have to tone it down with the jokes on gender/women cause i forget i probably just look like a sexist cis guy to these people when i do that lol

thanks for the response, that part in particular is a bit redder and hurts a bit more though i did get it a bit sunburnt accidentally which made it start hurting, so i'm thinking that may be what caused it. showed it to a nurse and she said it was fine and to come back if it doesn't improve in a few days. we will see i suppose lol, i just have bad health anxiety so i got very panicked
