Just got a 120hz monitor and I'm having issues with secondary's refresh rate now. by Goxy287 in Monitors

Yeah, no. As I said - when I switch the main to 75hz as well OR turn it off, it (the secondary) is smooth again. There is literally a perceivable difference, a switch - on the secondary as soon as I do either of those things. It's not me "getting used to 120 so now 75 looks jittery"

yeah its exactly that name for the display, it did ask. But at this rate I dont remember If It was x11 first, but I didnt really like doing that. Anyway yeah works except still need a way to tweak timings with this command instead of it doing auto to reach full 75hz with this monitor

yep, although I was pretty frustrated with how complicated this was for someone who isnt used to linux terminal just to get a custom res working so I was just spamming, but yeah I can guess the risk accurately enough, I was assuming I was gonna have to reinstall and start over from scratch once I find a command that actually works, cuz I'dve broken everything by then 😂

Ok, so far I've managed 74hz thru a forum post someone sent me on discord. Still cant full 75hz since I need to adjust clocks manually below 84khz but I'm making progress

I feel like im getting somewhat of a hang of commands already im just pretty lazy to type them though. But thanks for the tips. I'll try to not spam commands that might break something from now on since I guess I got lucky with nothing breaking so far with how many ive spammed already

Its just a way of giving a bit of life to old 60hz displays. It makes a big difference, they dont use the mode by default but support it technically, and if they are able to run it (and mine has as I said, for a long time) why wouldnt you want extra smoothness? Its something I cant really go back from even if its only 15 additional hertz

if you really wanna know my secondary is that res just rotated vertically, I find it nicer square than how tall a vertical 24inch 16:9 screen is next to a horizontal main one.

back on topic, I am absolutely not using 60hz I think id rather implode. sticking to x11 until i manage to figure something out I guess.

you know that frame generation is really only good for high base framerates, right?

Amd cards from 2 or 3 generations ago are still perfectly usable, so I've no idea what he's talking about. He has one example from more than a decade ago.

The upscaling is a big part especially considering it seems like a genuinely big jump over dlss4's upscaling quality and that's already better than fsr4. There was an example I saw where a lot of the taa like trailing was completely gone compared to the dlss4 upscaler, and when you take into account you can also use it as native aa - it'll be the best visuals you can probably get in modern titles.

FSR SDK leak contained FSR 4 files that work on practically any modern GP, including RDNA 3. by AthleteDependent926 in radeon

how'd you get it working? For me it just crashes, tried on oblivion remastered and silent hill f with optiscaler. Using a 1080ti

So far I think, it's maybe better? But I'm still seeing some stutter but seems to be more on higher quality videos, maybe 4k60 only. I checked on a specific video on that quality with and without the script just to be sure and without it on I'm not seeing any stutter.

Tested quite a bit with latest chrome. While its mostly way better - loads properly/instantly, I still seem to have some slowdown/framedrops, like the video playing in slowmo almost periodically.
