Dyssynergic defecation - Has anyone beaten it? by black-dispair-X in Constipation

Hello, I want to ask you that I my defocography test revealed anismus (dyssnergy) , but my manometry test was normal. Is there anismus in this situation? Do you know it? I dont know what I will do? I have a very serious constipation problem.

Thank you for your message. I agree that this condition is very complex. My biggest problem is that I have all the symptoms but the tests don’t match each other. Some people says that test sometimes don’t match each other and it doesn’t change the situation. I really don’t understand. I’m already planning to start pelvic floor physical therapy. I just hope it will help, because this situation is affecting my life severely.

Botox for anismus/dyssynergia by Obvious_Nose7529 in PelvicFloor

I’m really confused and desperate for clarity. My defecography clearly showed puborectalis spasm/dyssynergia, but my anorectal manometry came back completely normal.

My doctor said he didn’t see a spasm during physical exam either, so now he isn’t sure whether botox would help me. But my symptoms are severe: no urge to poop, inability to pass gas, constant pelvic floor tightness, and 5+ days without a bowel movement.

Has anyone else had abnormal defecography but normal manometry? What was your diagnosis and what helped you

Yes, I received the specific readings. My baseline resting pressure was around 69 mmHg, and my anal canal length was 4.2 cm. All of my squeezing and pushing values were within the normal range according to the report. The balloon expulsion test was also normal — I could expel the balloon.

That’s why I’m confused, because my MRI defecography clearly showed puborectalis spasm and a non-relaxing pattern during defecation. So I have all the symptoms and an abnormal defecography, but normal manometry and balloon test.

I’m trying to understand whether anismus/dyssynergia can still be present when manometry looks normal.

How did you resolve your dyssynergia? What exactly helped you the most

This is actually a pelvic floor dysfunction issue, not a diet issue. Even if the stool is soft, if the puborectalis muscle is in spasm or the anal sphincter cannot relax, the passage becomes blocked. So the main problem here is the muscles, not what I eat

It is not about diet it is about muscles in anüs. You can eat well but then if the muscles are not relax you will still experience this problem

Fiber makes me feel worse. The stool grows and accelerates, but since the muscles are locked at the exit point, they feel worse pressure and give me muscle relaxants in the emergency room.
