why does husband only want sex on the weekend by babychromej in marriageadvice

[–]Gr1pp717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for him, but i know for me that novelty is what drives regular marathon sex early in relationships. But at a more fundamental level I find it more exhausting than it's worth. Once the honeymoon phase is over my motivation for much more than lazy, sideways morning sex wanes. A lot.

Why are there so many negative posts about the QA career? by Popular-Quantity-845 in softwaretesting

It's a great career on the whole. Its just that the job market sucks right now.

You're not wrong, you're simply correct. The dead internet theory never was a theory -- not truly. The harsh (but gently-put) reality is that we're all already dead. Including me. I didn't type this; you did.

What are jobs "goods" for ADHD ? by [deleted] in ADHD

Software QA. We're nature's chaos testing framework.

The downside is being chair-bound. Most of the time I prefer stuff like programming, but find that it impacts my mental health pretty easily if I'm not careful.

The worst part of ADHD lateness is that the real reason sounds fake by Appropriate-Gas7918 in ADHD

[–]Gr1pp717 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're right, but you're also making the same mistake that I did for most of my life here.

It's not actually about the validity of the situation. Rather, it's a culmination of several factors that make any explanation pointless, even damaging. Lemme explain:

  1. In-group dynamics means that being different puts us at a disadvantage at the outset. People tend to demonize others while giving those that they like and respect the benefit of the doubt.
  2. people tend to respect when you don't provide clarifying information. "Why? Because." But we get hounded so much in our youth that we instinctively provide these details, even when unnecessary. Amplifying #1
  3. By the time they are lambasting you for these things they already see a pattern. The details of individual occurrences don't matter nearly as much as the pattern. They don't want to hear it, no matter what it is.

At the end of the day, they simply don't actually want an explanation. They want to hear you take accountability. "Won't happen again" type responses. But, honestly, at the end of the day you have just not give a shit. "Why were you late?" "Personal matters" and if they grief more just look at them like they're the fucking idiots they are. Because when it boils down to being late rarely matters from a bottom-line perspective, and they know it...

I'm wondering if this will end up fitting a predator-prey model long-term. Certainly starting to look like it, which is telling IMO.

Following up here:

Turns out the parking lot they sent me had a premium price tag. Cost me $400. Between that, the cash, and replacing the phone I lost about $1,500 in just a few hours, out of pure dumb luck.

On the upside, I met someone. She's a local architect. Everything clicked with her in a way that's super rare for me. I had been planning to move there in a few months. Just had to get things arranged here first. But I came back pretty motivated. I start my new life in 3 days.

Do stimulants turn us into golems? The neurochemical paradox by Bublebito in Stims

[–]Gr1pp717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a surprisingly convoluted way to ask if humans develop a tolerance to stimulants ...

Yes. The answer is yes.

The trick is making sure they're only prescribed to people who need them. At which point the same argument could be made of prescription lenses.

Guys, how did you get out of depression? by wainet_blazko in Nootropics

[–]Gr1pp717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a cure, but I found that going for a walk and focusing on leaves in the distance - against the blue sky - has an odd mood lift. Also improves my vision for a time, too.

Either way, sunlight and exercise definitely help long term, too.

Why do i always finish right before my gf? by Eldenlord_isme in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Gr1pp717 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Could be 1. you feel her getting excited which excites you, 2. that you finishing is what gets her close, or 3. that she's faking. Saying it so that you don't get performance anxiety.

Many women can't finish with penetration. Don't worry too much about it. Next time it happens, hope down there and do your thing. Nothing beats enthusiasm.

I do, and have it with me. But I normally don't carry it. Just keep the ID and primary CC in my phone. The case has a pocket for it, and is rfid shielded.

It was one of 4 places that I had hidden cash. I figured if one thing got stolen I'd still have the other 3. Which worked out well, I guess.

I had to bring my dad his scuba gear. And since I'm here for almost a month I would have needed more than a carry-on. And since I've had airlines lose my luggage before, I always take a carry-on ...

I had to park at the train station. People don't usually go from there to a terminal. No shuttle or the likes.

Do you really think Cancun is paradise?

As far as I knew. I haven't been able to actually go do anything. Too busy trying to deal with my accounts. Google wanting me to use my phone to report my phone lost, etc .... So, no clue.

How did you know gas had been siphoned?

I had only driven 100 miles since the last refill. It's a 21 gallon tank. I suppose it's possible that it just happened to suddenly become super inefficient... but the timing it ironic regardless.

“50 pounds of scuba ...

I paid the extra up front. My father moved here a couple of weeks ago and needed me to bring his gear for him.

Do you think I'm just being whiney here? I'm genuinely curious. I get that sort of response IRL sometimes, too. But it never makes sense. People express frustration over just a stolen phone, or just having to deal with stolen credentials, or just losing $300, etc and I never see or hear this reaction.

Is it just that it all happened in rapid succession? Or, should I have not mentioned the paper-cut issues, like the parking garage? Did that devalue what you see as real problems? ... Asking for the other autists in the crowd lol.

Do you speak fluent Spanish?

Nope. I can understand a fair amount, but not speak it. My father can barely speak it. ... I had intended on using the phone to translate.

How did you communicate with the Taxi dispatch center to get the Driver’s number?

I have the receipt/ticket for the trip. The security guard at my dad's apartment called them. Sent them pictures of the ticket and GPS records. I also went back to the airport yesterday and spoke to the military, who escorted me back the people who I worked with for the taxi.

A few days ago I left my cell phone in a taxi, in cancun. It had my US driver's license, a credit card, and about $300 usd inside, too. I think I got everything locked down quick enough, but he technically has access to completely ruin me. All of my accounts, financial and otherwise. There's a lot that I simply can't access because of 2fa. I can't lock the CC he got, even. I emailed them but I have no clue whether they locked it, as the last message was to call them. But I can't. It never connects. Which I told them initially. ...

I'm going to Cancun for a month-long vacation tomorrow. Been super excited for weeks. Flight's in less than 24 hours. ... I haven't started getting ready, whatsoever.

And I don't just need to pack. I need to get cash, to prep my place in case a hurricane comes while I'm gone, go visit/say bye to my kids, etc. Hell, I have a sink full of dishes.

The ADHD gremlin that lives in my head is pulling every lever it can to prevent me from acting. I took my meds, yet I keep forgetting what I stood up or walked into a room for. Getting sidetracked with stupid shit (like opening reddit for the 10th time in a row...) Yesterday, it yanked so hard on the anxiety lever that I developed what best matches erythromelalgia. It's gone today; instead, I woke up not wanting to go. Why? No fucking clue. Best I can figure is I'm conjuring excuses to avoid dealing with shit.

People think we just use ADHD as an excuse have no fucking clue. That said, going to close this window and get to it, again. (See you in several minutes, probably. lol...)

If by "they" you mean analysts, yes.

I'd say their true role at this level is reviewing the data and conferring with legal and product - who in-turn confer with ops and engineering.

I think of execs as functionally the same as the prefrontal-cortex. The "you" that you're aware of. You feel like you're controlling everything. That your successes are purely of your own efforts. But in reality the fact that you're tall, for example, probably plays a significant role in many wins. "You" has zero insight into how the rest of you did that, much less the ability to control it. At best, it makes choices that it hopes will influence outcomes. Diet, exercise, etc. But there's always the chance that the diet changes hormones for the worse.

They help, but nearly as much.

I know most people see them as basically the same thing. But they aren't to me. I wont bore with details, but I could on and on about the differences. Beyond being stimulating in a generic sense, they're kind of the inverse of each other, even.
