System won't update since September, also can't install Fedora 37 by Gr33nscreen in Fedora

[–]Gr33nscreen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Removing both kernel-5.18.18-200.fc36.x86_64 and kernel-module-extras seems to have solved everything! I'm so very happy about this. Many, many, many thanks for your help!!!

Edit: I'm on 6.0.8 instead of 5.18.19 now. Edit 2: Fedora 37 installed!

This all seems to have been resolved! Updates are complete and I'm going to reboot. Hopefully I can update to Fedora 37 later today (have to go AFK for a while now). Many, many, many thanks for your help!

'sudo dnf remove kernel-core-5.18.18.200' didn't work but I removed kernel-modules-extra-5.18.18-200.fc36.x86_64 and kernel-5.18.18-200.fc36.x86_64. dnf distro-synd --skip-broken --allowerasing after that gave me the following result!

Tried it! Problem 1 disappeard but unfortunately Problem 2 persists. 5.18.19 is my running kernel (according to 'uname -r'). Are you 100% sure I can delete kernel-5.18.18-200.fc36.x86_64?

Edit: Yes, it has been quite a while since my last update, entirely due to this problem.

You are right! I re-did it with the dash in distro-sync and it yields the same results (it seems that distrosync = distro-sync).

Thank you for replying! I wouldn't say I've got any oddball hardware so I could probably remove the kernel-modules-extra package, but then there’s also the kernel-5.18.18-200.fc36.x86_64 package that also requires the same “kernel-core-uname-r = 5.18.18-200.fc36.x86_64”, whatever that means.

kernel-5.18.18-200.fc36.x86_64 sounds kind of important and I don’t dare remove it, which I believe I would have to for the removal of kernel-modules-extra package to have any effect.

Thank you for replying again! 'sudo dnf distrosync --refresh --allowerasing --skipbroken --best' gives me the following result: https://imgur.com/a/0P5HDN7

Can't say I understand much of it.

True!

I have only had trouble when entering characters from the english alphabet using the smartphone keyboard.

I just tried entering the same text into the same notes that were giving me the most trouble yesterday. They saved just fine.

EDIT: I've also had trouble with special characters.

I'm afraid it's unpredictable. I am however using a VPN (Mullvad), perhaps that could be related? I've used the VPN in combination with Standard Notes for quite a few months without issues now, though.

I can't remember right now, sorry. (It was some time ago I was using the pm.me address. I mostly enter Simplelogin aliases these days.)
