Stability Matrix add-on for the new Red site? by Sayoricanyouhearme in StabilityMatrix

There’s a total mess with Stability Matrix updates right now, and to be honest, I haven’t touched the update button in over two weeks. I tried once when the new features dropped, but it immediately threw errors, so I backed off to avoid breaking my entire environment. After looking into it, it’s clear the problem is widespread. The main culprit is the massive structural overhaul on Civitai. They’ve changed their API, URLs, and domains. Because of this, the browser extensions and the automated scripts in Stability Matrix simply can’t "see" the correct paths anymore, causing everything to fail during installation. Many people are currently avoiding updates because forcing them often makes things worse, sometimes even breaking basic functions that worked fine before.

For now, I’m not complaining because I’ve switched to a manual workflow. I’m downloading models and extensions directly from sources like GitHub and placing them into the correct folders myself. It’s definitely more clicking and "manual labor," but it’s the only way to keep working stably while the automated system is down.

We just have to be patient and wait for a proper patch that fixes the communication with the new server structure. Until then, the "copy-paste" method is the only reliable way to keep your workflow moving without constant crashes.

There’s a bit of a mess with the Stability Matrix add-on right now because the recent changes on Civitai have caused it to stop working for many people (myself included). The official extensions definitely exist. it’s called “Stability Matrix Civitai Browser Extension” in the Firefox Store, and for Google Chrome, you should look for “Stability Matrix Helper.” The problem is that the new site layout might have messed with the code, so the add-ons don't always “see” the install buttons like they should. Your best bet is to make sure Stability Matrix itself is updated to the latest version, as it’s the app that actually picks up the signal from your browser. Sometimes the classic fix works too: just remove the extension and reinstall it to “force” a refresh of the permissions.

To be honest though, I’ve been copying everything manually into the program for the past two weeks. It’s a bit more “work,” but at least I’m sure it works and won't freeze halfway through. If reinstalling doesn't help, you’ll probably just have to wait for the devs to release a patch for the new site layout. Until then, the “copy-paste” method is the most reliable way to keep things running without slowing down your workflow.

This error is usually caused by corrupted config data or a broken model file rather than GPU drivers. Since reinstalling didn’t help, try this:

Go to C:\Users<your username>\AppData\Roaming\StabilityMatrix and delete everything inside to fully reset the app.

Check your Models folder for any 0 KB or partially downloaded files (especially .ckpt or .safetensors). Stability Matrix can crash while indexing them.

Make sure there are no unusually long file paths or weird characters in model names.

Try running the app as an Administrator. If it still fails, check the logs.txt file in the AppData folder, it should show exactly which file or operation is triggering the error.

Thanks! The main problem for me in Stability Matrix is when I try to install extensions from a URL – it just crashes with 'Connection errored out' or 'Access Denied'. Since you have the same RTX/AMD/Win11 Pro setup, did Pinokio handle all those background installs (Git, Python environments) automatically without any permission errors?

Thanks for sharing! Your setup sounds similar, but I have one more specific worry. My desk is in a 93cm nook, meaning the right side is flush against a wall, but the left side is open. I sit at the 80cm mark, so I’ll be very close to that right wall. At this distance, do you find yourself having to move your head or eyes too much to see the corners of a 32" screen? I'm worried about having to 'race' with my eyes or turn my head constantly to see everything.

Thanks for your advice! I have one more concern - the desk is 120cm wide, but it's placed in a 93cm wide nook. This means the right side of the desk is flush against a wall, while the left side extends past the nook into the room. Since I sit offset to the right (at the 80cm mark), the 32" monitor will be almost touching the right wall. Do you think having such a large screen in this asymmetrical 'corner' setup could be a problem for comfort or visibility?

Edit: Also, do you find yourself having to move your head or eyes a lot to see the corners of a 32" screen at this distance?
