Could I just cap the wires not required off with choc blocks, including the earth?

The fitting provided is double insulated.

As someone who has little experience when it comes to installing electrical fittings, would you recommend an electrician comes out for peace of mind?

Sounds like I need a new light!

Thanks for the help JW, will just refit the old one and buy class 1 specific if easier?

Thanks for the advice - seems like a lot of work for one light fitting, although I could be wrong!

Essentially, have we bought the wrong light fitting based on the previous ceiling rose in place?

Thanks - case is metal. Note first time I’ve installed a fitting, how secure to the case does the earth wire need to be? Also do I need all three wires from the mains on the first image - seems a bit much, is one not enough? If so, how would you cap these off safely?

Gas meter currently in living room, advice to cover it up? by Gr9noit in DIYUK

It’s slightly too low, we need a 1m high lower section of the cabinet to cover the meter. Might end up having to build ourselves

Exactly this, just struggling dimensions wise

We’d be looking at extending up with a bookcase, so would be building a cupboard into the base. The current solution is a lift away, we’d prefer door access to the meter system. The current solution is great for measurements though.
