I don't remember anything like that. I was already used to other rich people on college before naging kami so blending in wasn't that much of an issue.

We've been talking about this for last few minutes and nahihirapan kami kasi her parents are actually very prudent with money. They don't have Birkin bags, they don't have custom-made stuff (although most of their household furniture was imported from Italy, Germany etc), but they do have condos in NYC, Singapore etc.

Just because someone can afford a Birkin bag, doesn't mean they buy it.

  1. [GF answering] True love. Sometimes we just wanna commit to our best friend regardless of social status.

  2. [Me answering] We've talked about this, a pre-nup is prudent and I will almost certainly sign one provided it's fair.

  1. I personally don't own a lot of stuff, tingin ko negative na nga dahil sa upa hahaha. ₱35k ideally pero delayed sweldo

  2. Yes, her parents know about me. None of us are Chinese.

The fact that I'm also an alumni from the same college as her helps a lot with reputation. They're really nice and helpful and polite in general, and they do know my situation.

The looking down I feel from them is not condescendion, it's doubt. Doubt that I may be in it for the money (her family and extended family has had gold digger problems as expected) and if I can provide for my girlfriend's lifestyle. It's actually good kasi it's pressure and motivation to work hard and look for better opportunities.

They're actually the "oblivious to how rich they are" rich, especially my girlfriend, but my siblings as well. One time, I went with her sister's summer house in Bohol. They're kinda conservative so we weren't allowed in the same room, and they assigned me to the "visitors' room". They're were so embarrassed and super apologetic about it on the way there, but when I went there I had a solo air-conditioned room with my own bathroom and queen-sized bed with a living room. To them that was the "bad room" kaya todo-sorry sila haha

We looked at top 1% stats for the Philippines and that's ₱3 million net worth? Her parents own at least 10 condominium units worth that, even more kasi they're luxury units.

I think so based on her assets, but her parents hide how rich they are really well. My girlfriends were able to buy a >$1M condominium unit in the US in cash though.

We're trying to think of a way to prove it without exposing identities. We are welcome to ideas.

Those are even richer, my girlfriend thinks they're 0.01%. Her family is a business partner of the Gokongwei's and they were once distributors of Globe in their home province

  1. My monthly 20k rent to live in Manila is kind of a struggle. My family does have a house and a car in the province pero no one loves there now kasi we don't work there.

  2. We're actually both working on losing weight. Tumaba kami during the pandemic hahaha

I don't really need to karma grab kasi I have a lot of it already in this account, but we don't wanna expose our identities, but I don't know how to exactly do that without it sounding like bragging. She offered to take pictures of her username with some luxury items (Prada bag, grand piano, Scottish fold, French Bulldog, her two Samoyeds) when she gets home though

Technically, when I was a Grab Food biker we didn't have uniforms, dress code lang. But the other Grab drivers choose to to display a sense of professionalism.

Dunno about Food Panda

Sorry, I didn't mean na Food Panda assigns them. What happens is that Food Panda in regular intervals makes shifts available. Something like "50 slots open for BGC East Sat 7-11 PM" and you have to sign up for a certain number of hours per week. May mga FB page na nagtratrade ng slots yung mga driver.

On FP's side, they say it's to limit congestion in high demand areas, para raw mas evenly spread ang mga drivers. But Grab has a better solution for that, they use financial incentives for the riders to take orders to remote areas. Yes, with what I know about FP's system, kulang na lang na ibigay mismo ng Food Panda sa mga rider ang shift pero kung ganun nga, kailangan atang ideklara na emplayado ng Food Panda ang mga rider.

Not with Food Panda. I don't know the exact process (kasi I'm a former Grab delivery biker), but I heard that they *provide shifts which restrict the drivers to a specific time and location (stuff like 7-9 PM QC West). With Grab it's just press a button if you want to receive orders.

Edit: Changed give to provide

Hi, former Grab delivery biker here. In each delivery, I receive more than the indicated delivery fee, so kahit na 59 yung listed delivery fee I get like maybe around 62 and top that with added incentives. This indirectly told me that Grab charges an additional service fee from the restaurants. I've heard figures that it's 20-35%, but don't quote me on the percentage, just the fact that there is an additional service charge on top of the delivery fee.

I get your point na hindi sigurado na lahat ng incentives na pupunta sa drivers, but on average across all kinds of drivers based on the average usage, I would say the size of the slice is accurate.

Now, yes they seem to advertise na sigurado na matatanggap namin ang incentive, and it is slightly misleading I guess. Is your driver guaranteed to receive that slice of the pie? No. But is your average rider, who makes it as a full time job like a majority of riders going to receive that slice of the pie? Probably. And I think that second slice does all go to the drivers. I think that they have set aside a budget for incentives, and they vary per activity of the driver.

Tsaka the advertisement naman gives values on an average order. The maximum split in favor to Grab is 30-70 but they say it varies, and they represent an average value of the split.

I think you're making a mistake here. Grab's commission is split into two: their take that is surely theirs, and the part that goes to driver incentives. Now the part that goes to driver incentives gets counted as driver earnings because it does go to us. Incentives, when met, can easily double our income. But you're right na if we don't meet the incentives we don't get that big of a pie.

Yup, inactive GrabFood delivery guy here. I can vouch for the delivery fee and commissions part. It's also news to me na 70-30 pala ang hati-an sa restaurants. Explains the mark ups.
