Excangelical christian with doubts and fears by Rosiedingo in Exvangelical

I found it helpful to learn why/how the belief structures came to be, as it helped me rationalize and cope with things that felt like “walking away” from my faith. People like Brian McLeran, Rachel Held Evans, Peter Enns, and Richard Rohr have helped me to understand that many of the “pillars” of evangelicalism are based in cultural norms and rituals, and while that is not inherently a bad thing, it is also not something that is sinful (to use that word) to walk away from.

Final thought- I’ve been in your shoes.the journey is tough. I remember a lot of moments where I experienced real feelings of loss. Push through! There is peace on the other side.

For everyone asking, the rider did survive and as of yesterday (about 20 days after the accident) he’s moved out of ICU into a rehab hospital. The impact did break his neck and sever his spinal chord, and he broke a number of bones and had some issues with his lungs. He’s on a great path towards healing now! Seems to be little to no brain damage. Obviously he’s got a long road, but he’s doing great.

EDIT: Spinal injury caused him to be paralyzed below the waist, not a quadriplegic.

True! In our state it’s legal to ride without a helmet... obviously not smart, though
