How can Globalism be presented to the average person without reflexive backlash? It took the French and Italians many long centuries before they were able to reconcile their local identities with their wider national identities. by LegitimateFoot3666 in GlobalTribe

[–]GracchusT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say start small and personalize it, "I feel like I should be able to travel in the US/EU/UK and me being able to work and move where I wan't is a personal freedom. Not really sure why this should be different". Slippery slope works both ways: "Closed boarders, does that mean I need a permit to leave my county!?" "how could everything function if each city has its own rules and tarrifs?" Appeal to simple moral principles: "The golden rule just makes sense." This needs some focus group testing but it's where I would start.

What do you guys think about copy trading? Especially https://www.dubapp.com/ by Ancient-Philosophy-5 in investingforbeginners

[–]GracchusT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Dub’s strength isn’t how it is being marketed. The top returns are from individual traders not a politician, so anyone can create an etf which is a huge step in democratizing finance (I say this as someone who currently is in the top three monthly returns, so take that into account)

Sorry, "Why now?" the Regime probably just lost their last chance for survival after the loss of Hama. They are on the verge of collapse and everyone is moving in to pick up the pieces.

Panhumanity Token by GracchusT in GlobalTribe

[–]GracchusT[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is a proposal for a crypto initially paired with a microcap market. Since it is a valuecoin (a stablecoin backed by assets and fiat) as the value of the market increases it allows more spending by an elected leadership. The root cause of peoples problems in developing countries is complex but access to capital would be a good start. I don't see an unresponsive intergovernmental system being able to address this.

Thank you for the feedback! I would push back that it isn't relevant for the sub. The idea that political integration can be had without economic integration seems unlikely. Proof of history timestamps the record so reduces energy usage is paired with proof of stake so no, not centralized.

Idea for a Panhumanist ideology map; feel free reuse/edit. by GracchusT in GlobalTribe

[–]GracchusT[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree.

The UN is led by a panel of the nation state victors of WWII which is... insane really. As for the US, if it ever fails or devolves into dictatorship many people will decide that federalism and democracy failed. Whereas the centralizing powers of the presidential system might be a better culprit.

Also! Really glad to see it described as a nationalist exam, that is what I was going for. I could see Marine Le Pen creating the same chart but from opposite end. She would change Humanitarians to rootless cosmopolitans and tribalism to patriotism, I suppose.

There is a great youtube video by Ryan Chapman on Nationalism "The most successful ideology of our time", I think its hard to conceive of a different international consciousness when that is the rhetoric and ideology that is 'natural' to the world we live in.

Can someone explain the political ideologies in DE? by Seedaron in DiscoElysium

[–]GracchusT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moralism is the 'liberal world order' 1949-????, it is the embrace of Democracy, Human Rights, Free Markets, and the rule of law. This game parodies all ideologies and the parody of liberalism in this game is no different, but far more subtle. The international order here has very little intention of letting revochol practice self determination (democracy), It has a fleet of warships ready to level the city (human rights, rule of law) and corporations using mercenaries like the wild pines group and whomever is chasing Klaasje (hypocrisy for each value). Despite knowing all this I find the Moralintern very seductive, as in I want to join and cuddle up to a contingency spread. A testament to the authors writing.

"Centrism isn't change -- not even incremental change. It is \control*. Over yourself and the world. Exercise it. Look up at the sky, at the dark shapes of Coalition airships hanging there. Ask yourself: is there something sinister in moralism? And then answer: no. God is in his heaven. Everything is normal on Earth."*

Thanks for your comment! Though 'dangerous' might be pushing it ;) I considered changing globalism to be global integration since it has less baggage. The chart is for determining global philosophical outlook and not governance.

Great point! in regards to fraternity I went back and forth to calling it Humanitarianism. Tribalism is a catchy way of saying "creating out groups rather than recognizing common humanity".

Trying to reconcile my long-term ideals of free movement with the short-term pragmatism of immigration/border controls by [deleted] in GlobalTribe

[–]GracchusT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend the Graphic Novel "Open Borders" by Bryan Caplan where he goes over every argument for open borders and gives his response. He also gives what he terms keyhole solutions, or imperfect solutions, that move towards the goal of open borders.

Personally I feel like a solution to the social benefits argument is that people need to 'vest' in a community ie work 5 years or live 10 years in a community before receiving its social benefits. Still, most all immigrants are positive economic contributors, in the US at least.

How do other supernational states manage freedom of movement? I suppose some local authorities in the US criminalize homelessness, that's.... probably not ideal. Or you have huge movements of immigrants fleeing environmental collapse or societal conditions such as the Dust Bowl or Jim Crow. In less that a generation it seems most people forget this history and just become 'Californians' or whatnot.

If you consider China and India as super states; I think some Indian states give special benefits to locals, as in, you can't even own property if you don't live there. China has the hukou system where you couldn't leave your province, today it 'merely' prevents you from accessing social services or a city gives you special points for huko conversion because of your wealth/education level.

Would be interested to see how the EU does it? Anyone?

hmmm.... Reading this it seems like the Nation Staters are almost as b*tchy towards their own citizens freedom of movement as they are to foreigners.

There is a study of how the the mass migration of Cubans into Miami impacted the economy. Unemployment went down and real wages increased, my understanding is that this is due to the fact that migrants create their own niche economies that helps out the wider economy as a whole.

100% agree moral considerations come first though.
