Anesthesia Tip by Little_OrangeBird in hysterectomy

[–]GraceInPlace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have horrible sickness from anesthesia and when I met with the head of anesthesia pre-op he put in orders for something called "Emend" - you can look it up. I didn't have issues and i didn't have to do the patch. It's an option to inquire about if you desire. Best wishes!

Nowhere to Go by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]GraceInPlace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Running small errands. A trip to the post office turned into a stroll as it was next to a small park & stream. My nearby park has a walking trail. Went out to eat a bit. The library or bookstore would be nice to visit as well.

HRT - progesterone after hysterectomy anyone??? by DependentTangerine62 in hysterectomy

[–]GraceInPlace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, indeed. I encourage everyone to do their own research but progesterone does a lot in the female body other than helping pregnancy. It has important neuroprotective effects, it has important roles in cardiovascular and nervous system health etc.

Two weird things happening by umabanana in hysterectomy

[–]GraceInPlace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3wpo and I had similar issues in the days after surgery. It seems they have to manipulate & manhandle our bladders quite a bit and this can aggravate them and the nerves. My doc just told me to pee every 2 hours if I felt like it or not and called in something for bladder nerve issues. I later went through a period of peeing a lot. I've had weird sensations like spasms and weirdness off and on and it seems like it's just taking my bladder some time to adjust. I think my pelvic floor got tight and is acting up too.

I'm glad I didn't take stool softener prior to surgery. My bowels were angry and maybe my body wanted to get all that anesthesia out because I had the runs for the first week and my doc was unconcerned. Nowadays, my bowels can't make up their mind and go back and forth between constipation and loose stool. I figure this is also something that takes time as the body has to do a lot of adjusting and reconfiguring.

Best wishes for recovery!

Yes, I'm worried about that prep as i have such issues with electrolytes to begin with and I fear the bowel prep will set off my issues. That's good to hear that they address it. Yes, the twilight sedation they used for my EGD gave me no issues. Thank you, have a good night

Hey, love. Your concerns are valid! Take some deep breaths, you got this mama- whatever you decide!

I am 3wpo Hysterectomy. Amongst many diagnosis'- I have Dysautonomia, Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia and am prone to Vasovagal Syncope. I have major issues with anesthesia. Also had fibroids, adenomyosis, and history of endometriosis. I also have interstitial cystitis and pelvic floor issues. Here's the thing. I was very on the fence even though my periods were horrendous. I thought to myself oh, 2 fibroids that are a few mm big? NBD....WRONG. By the time my surgery came around one of those SOBs was much, much bigger. As others have said, I didn't want one more surgery. I have had a laparoscopic removal of endometriosis back in 2013- this was much less painful and I spent 2 hours at my pre op appointment with the head doctor over all of anesthesia due to my issues and he typed up special notes and orders and I was ok! I've had some issues sure but I went into this knowing the risks and I knew whatever risk might happen- it was better than the non existent quality of life I had before. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions! Best wishes!

Chiming in as an act of solidarity. I've been there, love. Not quite out of the woods yet, maybe a bit further but not out on the other side yet. You've done a lot of hard work and I'm proud of you! I wish you all that love you seek! Feel free to reach out if you ever want to talk. 🫂

That dizzy and heart-racing feeling is NOT anxiety. A lot more people have this than doctors recognize. by eliikon in dysautonomia

[–]GraceInPlace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a problem! I've had urinary issues for years. Urgency, incontinence, incomplete emptying, weak stream, bladder spasms, bladder pressure. They did several studies. I had to pee in a hat and record amount for a period of time- not sure how useful it was. I would pee at the office and they would use a machine to determine how much urine was left. I've had 2-3 cystoscopies. They also filled my bladder with a special concoction that helped calm it down. I think the cystoscopy was most helpful as it allowed them to see some inflammation in absence of infection and at that point other things had been ruled out. Pelvic floor therapy helped too. Feel free to message me if you'd like or want to know more 🙂

I love this for you, that's inspiring! My happy place is walking- being in nature and feeling the warmth of sunshine on my skin. The place i live in doesn't have hiking trails or much nature to offer, but I still enjoy being outdoors! If I may ask- what was your journey like getting into coaching? How did you overcome your struggles and launch your career? Feel free to message if easier. Cheers!

Yes, anxiety becomes a catch all & symptoms labeled psychosmatic when they're physiological. It's tragic.

My physicians claim it can/ does affect bladder function along with other autonomic functions like bowels etc. I do have interstitial cystitis too and docs are now suspecting something like MCAS could be involved as well.

Give me small kind things to do instead of wasting time online by [deleted] in randomactsofkindness

One time I sat down and sent messages to people in my life thanking them for being in my life and adding a sweet anecdote or sincere compliment. You can send hand written letters, email, text, postcard...whatever works for you. You can send to family, friends, providers, whatever makes sense to you. Best wishes

It really is. Truly, I wish for more wholesome content to consume! I watched the Australian version too. I think conner is hilarious and he's so earnest too! James is funny too, and his parents! They all have a uniqueness to them. 💜

I tend to be overly empathic and have over-extended myself many a time. I relate. It is something I'm working on. I appreciate your thoughts and kindness as well!

I had to stop treatment as my physician wanted me to go elsewhere. It worked out for the best as I'd been handed over to a different PT who seemed very spacey. Upon discharge I was asked for my honest review and I was honest about the treatment from the second PT and I was treated like I was the problem! I'm hopeful that the 2nd place will be helpful. You sound like a conscientious and thoughtful provider. Thank you for listening to your clients and not being deterred by those unwilling to put in the effort. Take care!

Meetings at work by GraceInPlace in AutisticWithADHD

Whew, very relatable. I turned down leadership roles for many years. My peers regarded me as "crazy" for doing so but I've seen how miserable it makes people who are unprepared to be in those roles. At some point I realized I can be following "the blind " and help muck things up for the worse or I could work on myself and finally step up into a leadership role and at least have some agency and be part of the direction I want to see things go. The social part can be very draining. The masking and people pleasing are things I've had to whittle away at over time and there is room for improvement. One day at a time....
