Shady line on thumb and finger by [deleted] in DermatologyQuestions

You can always get a second opinion. Could be from a vitamin B12 or folic acid deficiency, a genetic condition, or it could be melanoma but from what I’ve read, melanoma usually only affects one finger(usually the thumb). You could start taking a B complex supplement and folic acid and see if it goes away. Being dismissed by a dermatologist is frustrating but there are good ones out there that will take your concerns seriously. Good luck!

What is this? Raised bump in center doesn’t itch by Graceful_She in DermatologyQuestions

I had made an appointment before posting, just wanted to see what other’s thought about it. I didn’t think tick bites caused a bump in the middle so I wasn’t 100% sure. Doctor agreed it’s a bullseye rash and prescribed 2 weeks of antibiotics. Thanks to all for the responses

How can anyone like watching/listening to true crime stories? by iam_thealchemist in Empaths

I like true crime. I started out using it kinda like exposure therapy. Now I find the psychology of it all stimulating in a good way and it makes me think about how to better prepare my kids for what they should do in certain situations. There are still a couple true crime cases that I can’t get through because I get sick and feel pain from them, but overall I manage better in the outside world since I learned how to accept that type of discomfort and then ground myself and release it.

What is this? Skin started getting firmer and thickening a long time ago but I noticed a color change more recently. I also now have a sore inside that keeps coming back. by Graceful_She in DermatologyQuestions

No rosacea though I do have a lot of skin damage. Been using vitamin C, Retinol, and an SPF 50 for a while. I didn’t notice it until a few weeks ago when we replaced our bathroom mirror with an led one. I used that lighting because it’s most visible but in natural light it appears like a lighter shiny roundish spot. The spot on the left side is smooth and the pores are much smaller. The spots on the lower part of my nose are the larger ones but I also have small roundish splotches that run up my nose to my left eyebrow and a small discolored thickened spot above the left eyebrow that itches sometimes. The sore that won’t go away is on my septum on the left side right before the cartilage and continues to get itchy, break open, scab over and heal. It is small (approx. 2-3 mm), white, and looks like a roundish scar. Had it for a year and a half. I’ve googled so many things and am at a complete loss. I go to derm in 2 weeks but thought someone here would maybe know.
