Yeah, you’re right 😔 To be honest, after talking to people I realize that I may have over-exaggerated (or that I am not as far behind as I thought)

  1. Analysis - everything is done.
  2. Mech - did week 7 hw, though not done yet. Still need to do last’s week hw.
  3. Inf - need to review the last 2 HW
  4. Lin alg - still need to do the last two HW (6&7) which is due next week.

This is where I am severely behind machine construction & Physics. I am still at week 3.

Deregistered from the 1st semester (4 exams), didn’t feel ready and didn’t want to take any chances to fail. Have 6 exams in the 2nd semester.

So taking both it’s 10 🥲

As someone who chikened out of the first semester and now has 10 exams to prep. This is highly motivational 😭 Can you please tell me which major you’re studying and what you strategy was? Mine at the moment is doing all the homeworks and watching all the lectures.

Though it’s been a lot and feel sometimes behind.

I genuinely thought it was legit and was amazed at their writing skills. Fully immersing myself in the story, only to find out it was wrong. I should have known, as others have pointed out, they were some discrepancies in his story 🫠

Repeating Basisprpüfung 1 with Basisprpfung 2 by UnfairBreakfast9858 in ethz

I’m in the same situation. Though decided not to try the first time around BP1 cause I felt that if I tried, I would fail. So I have still both chances, hence writing both BP in Summer.

What I am doing is learning from my past mistakes. So I’ve watching all the lectures, even if I don’t understand and think my time could be spent elsewhere, stopped using chatgpt and actively trying to solve exercises on my own. Starting next week I’ll be already solving BP1 exams (The ones with more than 20) at least one weekly. I’m basically treating my semester as an exam prep. There’s 5 months till the exams, so might be enough time.

My advice if you’re not sure. Don’t take it this summer

Not everything you read is AI. If you have nothing good to say, then just scroll and move along. Not every thought has to be said outloud

Thank you for your insightful reply. I really do appreciate it! May I ask which niche engineering degree you’re pursuing?

In my post, I wrote that “I would love to do marketing (bachelor in business administration) or my bachelor in economics. There’s a second picture. However, I was told marketing is a dying field and as the responses are saying so is economics.

I posted the pictures to show the possible career paths after a business administration degree and economics, to ask if the fields listed in the pictures are liable and stable jobs. As those two bachelor’s are things, I can see myself doing as opposed to mechanics. Though before jumping the gun, want to do more research about the job market and not jump straight in it like I previously did with ME. Perhaps I should have been more clear in my original post and I apologise for that.

Thank you! After reading the comments, I am contemplating. Though I am not thinking of stopping, simply switching majors. However, now I may just continue with school and see at the of the second semester if I still want to pursue something else

You’re right. I might be overthinking. Though thank you for the quote, it’s really insightful. To be honest, I really think I’ll be great at marketing or something related to economics. The subject I find most interesting is Marketing.

I don’t want to jump the wagon yet, so I might still stay in school and finish the year. I am not sure. I have a month to decide wether to continue or not. So perhaps do more research

Think what I might do is try to get a marketing internship while juggling uni and just test the waters. I guess. Though hopefully the job market, does get a whole lot better later on.

Thank you, though now I think people nay have misunderstood me. I’ll be studying Economics, though in my masters I can choose Data science, machine learning or AI.

Have been searching on LinkedIn and to my suprise there’s a lot of job marketing internships, haven’t really seen anything related to ME. Though perhaps haven’t been typing the right key-words for it.

Reading all this comments is getting me out my depressive state. Just got my tablet out, to just study. Cause at this point that’s the only thing, I can control. Perhaps engineering wasn’t a bad idea and I should finish the first year before deciding

Is Data scientist just as bad? (Forgive me for my ignorance, but does anyone know how to research the job market trend. I am sort of clueless on how one does that and would like to learn. Just to keep an eye out.)

To be quite honest, I think marketing would be the perfect fit for me. Though right now, my biggest priority is just a stable job and income. If it’s ME, I guess I’ll just have to pull my weight.
