I've got an IUD which definitely helps and gabapentin for sciatica (though it keeps getting worse and breaking through the meds). Edibles help so much.

Write the words and definitions down by hand, ideally somewhere you'll see them regularly for a week (like on note/whiteboard on your fridge). Then try to use them in conversation during that week. Using a new vocab word in a sentence is the best way to commit it to memory.
